Just did a 2” lift and wheel tire change on my TRD Sport. Just curious what affordable options are out there for jacks. I do not have sliders or places to use a hi lift Jack. Thanks in advance.

Any links to what you may recommend or use are helpful. Also note, this is to replace the stock one under the seat.

You don't necessarily need to replace the OE jack with a lift. For a rear flat, it will still jack the axle just fine. Up front, you can jack the LCA or subframe. A small 2x6 shim would make up the distance if needed.

I did replace my floor jack when I put on a new suspension because my old one couldn't get it up high enough for tire rotations. I bought a HF Daytona Long Reach:

There might be some telescoping hydraulic options but I doubt any will fit under the seat. The difference in height needed to lift the vehicle to change a tire it's only as much as the difference in tire size /2. So a 33" tire will need a jack capable of lifting 1.75" higher assuming the lift did not extend the down travel distance of the suspension. You could put a 3" lift or no lift on the truck, the lift hight requirement is the same if the tire diameter is the same.

Finding a jack with a large area base so that it can be used on soft surfaces is the tough part.

For the very few punctures that I have had, all were fixable with a plug. The lack of compressor was my biggest issue.

Thoroughly cutting down a tire or two is such a rare thing that you likely do not have a worry.

I've only ever had complete sidewall failure. In my experience I'm more likely to have that than a simple puncture.

Project Farm just tested a bunch of floor jacks and the HF Daytona did almost as well as the Snap-On version, it's a solid jack if you have the room for it. If you keep a jack in the bed off your truck, make sure and test it every so often. Hydraulic fluid can leak and make it worthless

I do keep a plug kit and inflator behind the back seat. :fistbump:

My priorities are a) get off the road, B) get it as far as the next tire shop. I've had several flats, but its been over 25 years since I've last had to install the spare.

Kind of funny discussion, my niece just had a catastrophic blowout last night. No spare in her car, but then again, she didn't make it off the freeway either. I told her parents "good. Worst thing you can possibly do is dick around with a tire jack in 80mph traffic, at night."

I know a Tacoma is different but i have a 3" lift on 35's on my Land Cruiser and still use the standard jack. But i do have solid axles front and rear. I just take a few 12"x12" 3/4" plywood square as a base and I'm good. Air compressor is probably a bigger issue.

Same here. Getting a compressor was a big step.

I have only had a couple away from home. Most I find either from a slow leak during a pressure check or weirdly as I am ready to leave. I had a couple on the highway. Changing a tire along side the road is never fun.

It is a good thing that your niece got out of there safely.

I changed a transmission in a box truck on the side of the highway. I'd rather ride Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point naked in a hail storm than do that again.

That said, I've used the stock jack to pull a front tire off on a trail. I have a 3" lift with 34's. The jack will get a little sketchy but it works. Rear isn't a problem at all.

    It all depends on experience.

The floor jack stays at home. Going with the OE jack for now.

Thanks! I had an HF jack for 25yrs and it worked well. The Daytona has been killer though.
