Here is what I need help with. The TRD is a totaled out doner truck for the rear differential. The Prerunner with ABS and currently no locker has lots more wires under seat. I know some of the wires are for the ABS. Neither truck had electric seats. Is it possible that the Prerunner is already wired for the locker and I just need to locate a connector under the bed to plug it into. Also if you look closely at the #2 plug on the Prerunner it appears that the connection had gotten hot at one time. What group of wiring is # 2 ? I know that I can always wire direct aftermarket locker control but would rather plug into factory plug if possible. Thanks

Just what wiring did you get from the TRD?? Do you have the harness that plugs in the Locker?

The locker is warranted to work ??

Does your PreRunner have the Locker ECU located in the left kick panel. and the 20 Amp 4WD fuse?

As @Bivouac said you would need the locker ECU (4wd ECU), looking at the diagram the wires for the diff lock go though 2 connectors under the seat (BN1 & BN4).
I seriously doubt it would be prewired for a locker but I suppose it could be, pins 2 & 7 of connector BN1 and pins 3 & 7 of connector BN4 would be populated if it was wired as well as having connector BO1 under the truck and connector F7 for the 4wd ECU.

Just how bad is the donor Truck ? Might be easier to fix that with your good parts.

Have you looked for the Harness that connects to the switch mounted on the dash??

If that is tied up behind the dash you might be lucky.

Now my 2000 does not have any harness parts for a locker installed did that change next production year I have no idea.

I think if you want the factory harness your going to end up removing the harness from the donor vehicle and adding all the safety switches plus the other missing parts the PreRunner is missing .

Have you looked at the prints at all for your Tacoma??

Your aware of only being able to engage the locker in Low Range with the factory harness?

Myself I would just use a lighted switch a relay and circuit protection rather then lots of time and frustration re wiring a harness..

    Best of Luck!!

OP has a prerunner so that limitation doesn't exist since it's 2wd.

I know but if the OP pulls the harness off the 4x4 Donor truck that is another switch that needs bypassed.

Hence my Comment to just hook it up direct and be done.

I don't find where the OP ever says the donor truck is 4wd, only TRD Off Road with locker, which could also be a Prerunner.

I think the overheated connector needs to be addressed first. I would unplug it and check the pins.

Are the 4WD computers part numbers the same for all E-Lockers?

Not sure, I know 2nd gen 2wd and 4wd ECUs are different.
My hunch would be that 1st gens would be the same way.

My 2003 did not come with the E-Locker, But it is 4X4 and it came with ABS, I added the entire differential that I bought from a member here in the forums, I am going to attempt to do the wiring myself, the good thing is that my car was prewired up to under the driver seat, I purchased a E-Locker 4WD computer module and it plugged right into the spare E-Locker harness and the dashboard switch wiring was already there as well. The only thing I have to do is run the wires from the E-Locker motor harness to under the driver's seat: BN1 & BN4 connectors. I know that there is 7 wires and two actually terminate into ONE ground inside the harness, so basically it's 6 wires. I do not want to go the aftermarket route, I rather do the RETROFIT.
