Temporary VIN or match number is basically an accepted order number.
The VIN will be assigned when the build is started and is of course permanent

Negative on two counts. If your temporary VIN had an "N" in the tenth position, it is cast in stone it is a 2022 model year vehicle; period, full stop, the end. As for quoting, that is negative as well; my 2022 Tacoma isn't schedule to be built until next week and yet my insurance company took my temporary VIN just yesterday and quoted me a new policy.

You will also find that based on an actual VIN your insurance quote is subject to change.
You received a "quote" loosely based on basic info. Ask me how I know. :)

Absolutely incorrect. The temporary VIN only differs from the permanent VIN in the serial number area (i.e. the last 6 bytes); the first 11 bytes are what is needed to calculate insurance rates and those will not change.

Idk...this may vary by state or insurance provider. I've been given quotes loosely based on temps and had them change when the permanent VIN was provided.
So, I can't say what is absolute or partial true or false

Welcome to Toyota southeast region, the accessory markup is terrible. I bought my truck almost 1 year ago so the market may be different and every state and area is different as well be here a few things that helped me in the Charlotte, NC area.

    • No dealer in my area was charging a "market adjustment"
    • They all charge some addendum for a package of some kind, Tint, pinstripes, powertrain warranty, floor mats, nitrogen tires, etc. I negotiated this WAY down. I wanted tint so I didn't mind paying a few dollars to have them do it. (this seems to be just the charlotte area)
    • 2 dealers in my area were happy to remove ALL port-added options. I had them take everything off, floor mats, platinum care, etc. Same as you, I'm not paying $300 for $150 floor mats. Ask if they will remove the port options it's a separate section on the allocation sheet.
    • Make sure you check the interior color on the allocation sheet. I ALMOST bought a red interior and there are many threads with people asking how to change out the red they didn't know they bought.
    • I searched out of Southeast region and had dealers willing to sell to me. I also called one in TN who didn't have anything at the time but called me back when financing fell through for another buyer. I had my allocation and delivery was close so I let it go.
    • Get a copy of the allocation sheet, negotiate your deal, you and the dealer sign the allocation sheet and sales agreement, and get copies of everything
Based on the timing of my truck, you might be out of luck on a 2022, when my 2021 was delivered on 9/18 there were already 2022 showing up on the Toyota website inventory.

I walked into a large dealer and asked in person if they had an allocation for the truck I was looking for. I lucked out or they gambled and said they had one in 60 days. Put in a deposit and waited. In the meantime, in case it fell through or for faster delivery I called around to different dealers on allocation days and asked if they had what I was looking for. I also texted the salespeople after I was in their system. I did get good responses and came up with trucks close to what I was looking for that the dealer had on allocation but the delivery was all the same, so I stuck to the deal I already had in place. I didn't want the nav/parking package, and the truck I had on allocation didn't have this, one dealer offered to knock half the package price off. Calls and texts worked much better than email. no response to email.

When I got the Vin it had the navigation package and parking sensors, I didn't want this package, and the allocation sheet didn't show it. They stuck to the original price and didn't charge me the $1,700 cost of the nav/parking package!

    7/3/21: Deposit placed
    8/30/21: Permanent Vin issued
    9/1/21: Build date
    9/18/21: Arrived at the dealer
    9/21/21: Drove it home

I just bought a sr in ga for msrp but had to pay for $3000 worth of extras that came with truck, like paint protection, step bars, toyoguard, floor mats, and light upgrades. Plus interest rates are high now. Salesman said I could have got .9% back in March. I pulled in to check dates of arrival on it, was supposed to be delivered the next day. He said the one that is sitting right over there? Had come in after hours and wasn’t checked in yet. So I jumped on it
