I'll have a pretty good view if it goes Saturday. I'll be supporting from where the Vice President and President typically watch from when they come here.

 

I'll be a few miles away at OSB II if it goes. I was just talking with my safety buddy who is based out of OSB II as well during SLS launches about the secret service sweep on Monday.
SS rolls through the building, digging into everybodys bags. They tell safety and everyone else, do not leave this room for 15 minutes. Guy says what if I have to piss? SS says, that wasn't a suggestion. Do not leave this room for 15 minutes.

Not sure if its out or not but Engineers think they are fighting a software issue that can be resolved. We shall see.

The 3 issues I saw were a leak issue which slowed the tanking process, the bleed issue which slowed the engine cooling on #3 to the point they’d miss the window, and a stuck vent valve. They finally threw in the towel for the day. I wonder if the problems with Hydrogen are exacerbated by humidity leading to icing inside the plumbing. It doesn’t seem to be a problem in vacuum. This being essentially a prototype using a difficult fuel it’s not really surprising there are problems. I know the engines are literally taken from shuttles but the only thing about the tank that’s similar is the color and the boosters. It’s a different alloy using a different welding technique covered with a different foam, the engines are mounted to it and not the shuttle and the load is on top rather than the side. Additionally, the tower umbilicals are different since nothing remains of the mobile launch towers from the shuttle era. Even though it’s Boeing I don’t want to hang every setback on them but their recent record sure makes it tempting. Cynical I know but that’s where we are. It’s up to them to repair their reputation.

 

I looked at the reason for the scrub more, and it was a temp sensor on Engine 3 that was giving a false reading to Control.

 

Sounds like something one of buddies at work has always said about our companies approach to things, "We never seem to have the time to do it right the first time but always find plenty of time to do it 3 more times after that because we rushed it in the first place."

...our company might also be one of the main contractors on this project

Booster 7 just had a nice 3 engine static fire down in Starbase today.
