If 5.29 for 14 bolt are out there I would be interested.

What’s the difference? You can literally run 5.29’s in the front axle with either 5.13’s or 5.38’s in the rear

Unfortunately not much help on the speed sensors for the Auto. I think he is planning to not run any at all. A guy in our group is running a 14bolt in the rear, all the ABS/speed sensors are cut. He can cruise down the highway with no issue, tranny shifts correctly which I was surprised about. Just no speedo

Good chance it's 5.38, just relaying what was told to me though, he is ordering all the stuff for it

nope I drove around and wheeled with a 14 bolt and 538 gears and a front toyota solid axle with 529's in my 95 runner for over a year while I was putting togeather a dana 60 for the front.
it will not blow up but not hear to argue or disagree just stating my own experience..:)

5.38/5.29 combos have been pretty well proven to work fine even on pavement.

It's not much of an opinion. It's simply ideal to have them match for obvious reasons, no one should choose (money asie) to have bindage in the t-case. Can you build a link suspension where the links aren't exactly the same length, sure, you can even wheel with it. Is it ideal, fuck no. Either way non ones putting 5.29 gears in a 14 bolt haha.

Interesting. I was under the impression the tranny needed speed sensor since it’s electronically shifted. Mines a 2010, and speedo isn’t accurate as is. Just thought I needed it for the tranny. Hmmm.

Same, he was willing to cut it and try it so I let him make that decision. I think his is a 15 so not sure if there is a difference there.

Prob. That’s what I got from Yukon for 14bolt and sd front. Didn’t see anything else up to 4.88 I believe.

When I was 18 I had a CJ7 w/ stock 3.73 or maybe less in front and 4.11 rear cause I was too lazy to finish front. Went a year like that.

I had a friend with a ZJ that did that as well, 4.10s rear some unknown 3.xx. He actually slapped the whole front diff together from shims and parts he found on his shop floor, complete with a duct tape pinion seal on a d30, in a couple hours to go wheeling later that day. He ran that for quite a while and it never did break until he swapped it all for a d44.

I miss those days, when a beater was all you needed and some crazy build was not even an option. Nice and simple!

I wheel with a guy that has an XJ with a cage, some chromo d30 shafts and some sticky UTV 35" tires and that's it. He takes buggy lines all day and we all wonder wtf we are even doing, including the buggy guys lol!!
