I was watching Modern Marvels last night and it was about plumbing. They went through a lot, they also said it takes 4-5 years to become a licensed plumber.

A man told me many years ago you only need to know 2 things to be a plumber. Hot water goes on the left and poop won't run up hill. Both true :amen:

Plumbers are well paid because it's a tough job. I hate plumbing although I try and do all of my own.

It seems common sense has been lost with the younger generation!

Real Story from last year! Middle of a thunderstorm, non-critical motor trips, 23 year old tech right out of school thinks he can troubleshoot it, opens a 480v panel while standing in 6 inches of water.

Does it run on 110V? Is it a standard plug or European?

Oh yeah. Poops in the mulch, eats and drinks on the back deck, kills squirrels in the yard (I'm fine with it, we have too many), hangs around...

1/4” HSS end mill, almost new. Forgot to turn the spindle on before sending it in a piece of hot rolled :anonymous:

Now with 30+ years experience machining and equipment repair, I often think a plumber or electrician would have been a better path.
Carry all your required tools...literally throw them in a bucket, buy a large van stock full of fitting or wire and be your own contractor.
Throwing your precision measuring tools in a bucket wouldn't be good for them. And to have your own business would require a large building and a million dollars worth of equipment.

Yeah, multi-axis cnc machines ain't cheap.

I personally wish I had thought of the "Send-Cut-Send" CNC on-demand service concept. Seems like a thing I've always been in need of from time to time.

A few! The firmware updates are horrible and when they fix one problem they always seem to cause another little problem somewhere else. The wifi connection to it would drop off and be a royal pain sometimes when I was tying to load programs to it.

    Pros-
Nice to have the 3-1 capabilities.
Great support from the company and online groups.
Easy to use user interface for simple projects.

    Cons-
Lot of firmware updates with unintended reactions.
Lacks rigidity, so you have to run it fairly slow.
    WiFi issues
The original 1.6mW laser was very weak. I haven't tried my new 10W laser yet.

I will say, if your end goal is to have one machine that you can tinker with and make simple hobby level stuff for yourself, then it is a good machine to have. Being able to use one user interface to run the printer/laser/ and router is nice.

If I knew what my plan was before I bought it I would have bought separate machines. For the price I could have a cheaper 3D printer and a better CNC router and just skipped the laser.

Got my new work boots this week. I’ve been getting the same model every 8-12 months for the last 7 years. Love it!!!!

I tried a pair of those on last time I went for some, they didn’t feel good to me. How long before they get broke in?

When I found it necessary to start packin’ a laptop around for what I do everythin’ kinda flew out the window. Never had trouble with pneumatic systems. Either you had air pressure doin’ what it’s supposed to be doin’ or Not. DDC stuffs all fine ‘n good but do you really need all the bells ‘n whistles. Glad it won’t be too long before I feel it’s not fun anymore. Still, I kinda fear for all trades guys with all the new & improved goin’ on. Not a lot of Common Sense gettin passed on it seems.
