Anyone has had their exhaust system more than 1 year or have gone on extensive long trips with it?

Honestly, if you could go back in time, would you still have gone that route? Or you would rather have kept it stock?

I'm interested in knowing if eventually we're going to get bothered by the elevated noise level after the initial few weeks/months of excitement.

You will. I have a loud catless Mustang; it's annoying and not my DD.

I’ve had my TRD exhaust for over a year, still love the way it looks and sounds.

The fact that you asked if WE are going to regret it tells me you'll be made to regret it.

I have a factory performance exhaust on my current DD 2016 WRS STI and I can say that my daughter, my wife, and my self are not fans. It was great the first few weeks of owning a sports car that sounded good but after it settled in the exhaust got louder and is constantly droning due to the close ratio box. If I could go back in time I would have not picked the car with the upgraded exhaust, then maybe we would drive it more and not hear "Daddy...your car makes my head hurt" from my six year old. Waiting with bated breath for my Tacoma to come in so I can trade in my STI.

The TRD exhaust was the first thing I did to the truck. Installed in early 2019, still love it. Any louder and it would drive me nuts, especially with how high the manual transmission gearing makes the RPMs sit on the highway at cruising speed. The TRD exhaust has minimal drone under load, and overall sounds pleasant. I would not go any louder than the TRD exhaust, it's comparatively quiet when you look at the MBRP or a straight-pipe type deal. The problem with a low-displacement, high-compression engine is that you quickly get into fart-cannon four-cylinder territory if you go too loud on the exhaust. Keep it subtle. You'll enjoy it and it won't drive you crazy.

Ran an mbrp 3in catback for two years. By a year and I half I was totally over it/actively despised driving the truck. I installed a stainless steel borla s type and found exactly what I was looking for. A little more grunt than stock but 0 drone and a nice exhaust note.

I modded a Pro exhaust that was already axle dumped. It was a bit loud on the first long trip, but I also had the slider open for most of that run.

Sounds great, with subtle burbles and good rumbles.

Basically, you can tune the sound level by cutting the tail section shorter.

    i also put 150k on a catless s2000 with invidia n1 duals

both were fine to me. this is a dumb question.

-Bilstein 6112 front shock. Ive had Black widow muffler paired with an AFE dry cold air intake for 5 years and still enjoy it all the time. 2010 V6 I especially love the cold start and idle sound. It is running the factory path just new pipe since the old one rusted. The sound falls off at 38mph and 66mph on mine, so right around cruising speed. It is easy to control the amount of "noise" you get by controlling the RPM. If you dont want it to be loud then you have that control with your right foot. You will be able to find the sweet spots for your sound after having it for a while. Wife doesn't mind it at all either. When I do get on it for a highway on ramp it vibrates that passenger seat some, but nothing that is to annoying.

It is always interesting to here the change in my exhaust sound as we hit fall in NE and the outside temp starts to drop. The note changes over couple of months for winter and then changes again for summer time. Give Black widow a look.

You are in control of your OWN sound destiny!!! :stirthepot:

I had a magnaflow muffler and shorter pipes on my Ram, it drove me crazy after a couple of years. The drone on the highway was super annoying. I have zero interest in modifying the exhaust on my Tacoma because of it was so irritating on my last truck.

If you spend a lot of time in the truck and are at all sensitive to noise, I would advise against it. Not worth the cool points.

the 3.5 sounds like shit with an aftermarket exhaust. Why create a ton of noise if it doesn't sound good?
