the black plastic rails on top of the bed sides have notches cut out of them for the tonneau pins, trucks that didn’t come with a tonneau don’t have those cut outs on their plastic rails. It makes more sense when you see all the hardware you need to install the tonneau.

I've got one coming on the Tacoma I have on order. I've read some bad reviews on them but for the most part it seems like people are happy with them. If not the OEM one definitely go with another tri-fold cover from a reputable company.

I had a Bak Vortrak Retractable on my Tundra and I hated that thing. The only reason I bought it was because a buddy of mine had one on his Silverado and it worked great. I got mine and got it installed and it never did work right. I never could get the tracks adjusted to where it would move right. It was also very leaky and didn't seal up very well. It also had that big box in the front that the cover rolls up into. Which, I knew that going into it but also you have to be careful because if you use your truck like a truck and put things in the bed, that box will definitely get dented up and damaged. Overall, I definitely don't feel like it was worth what I paid for it (right around $1000) and doing it all over again I'm definitely going a different route.

There’s a thread somewhere on here where you can change the spacers and get a much better seal. I like mine.

Do you have this actual model? If so, wouldn't that be a pain to use with a bed rack? The long ends being too long.

Does the bed header rail also need to be swapped to install the OEM cover properly on a truck that didn't come stock with the cover? Or just the side rails? I'm seeing conflicting stuff about this.

Also, this post talks about a pre-installed bed seal—is anyone who is putting an OEM cover on a truck that didn't come with one adding this?

If you are talking about on Generation 3, and referring to the header that is up against the cab in the front, NO, you do not have to swap it. However, there are 2 rubber grommets that cost about $35 that go on each side of the header to keep out water. I moved my OEM cover from my 2021 TRD OR and it transferred perfectly to my 2023 TRD Pro, but I made sure that I took all of the hardware, side covers, grommet, etc.
