What a week it’s been and we’re not half way through. I installed a Hayden transmission cooler on the Tacoma on Sunday morning and spent Sunday afternoon rehydrating. There was nothing physically demanding about the job but with temps in the low 90’s and humidity in the mid 70’s I was wrecked. Didn’t sleep well Sunday night, kept kept waking up with cramps in my hands and legs. I mean really, who gets cramps in their hands? Loaded up on bananas Monday and started to feel human again. Things were looking up and good thing because yesterday was my wife’s 60th and to mark the occasion Tampa Electric had a power failure in the evening. I got an automated call from TECO saying in effect your power is out, we don’t know why but we think we’ll have it back by 11:30PM. I get another call around 8:30 saying your power has been restored, sorry for the inconvenience. Press 9 if your power is not restored. Not only is my power not on but the entire neighborhood is still dark so I press 9 and a minute later I get another automated call telling me my power is out, we don’t know why, but we think we’ll have it back by 11:30 PM. My poor wife, I had to grill hotdogs for her birthday! Pretty sure she’s going to call a do-over. So the power comes back around 930 and my internet modem won’t connect. I rebooted 5 or 6 times and no joy. I call Spectrum and get an automated message that there is an outage in the area, we don’t know why and we’re working diligently to fix it, please call back later. So I wait a few hours and call back and get stuck in the automated test system that sends a reset signal to the modem and says there, you’re all fixed, but if you’re not working in 10 minutes, just call back. Of course it doesn't work, it’s after 11PM and I am out of patience. I called back and finally got a 1st level human tech who sends another reset to the modem which doesn’t accomplish anything. She runs some tests and after 30 minutes proclaims my modem is bad and a tech can be at my house between 4 and 5 PM on Thursday. I asked if she realized that was nearly 40 hours from now so we agreed that I can return the modem to a store across town this morning. Well, sometime overnight whatever was wrong seems to have fixed itself because his morning I had internet back and the modem reconnects with no problem when I reboot it. I have to wonder what the tech was testing. So now I have internet access again. Hooray that! I start my work day at 0600 and the 1st thing I see is a meeting invite for 10PM tonight asking me to monitor a network change that we’re pretty sure is going to jack up the data acquisition for one of the platforms I’m responsible for. It just keeps getting better….

    Afternoon all:
Sounds like a normal day for me Kevin, looks like Murphy came to pay you a visit, don't worry he will come back to me! :)

Slowly getting ready for archery and just did 2 little projects that I wanted to do, I modified a scope level to fit on the bow and added a second arrow grip onto a quiver to hold the arrows more securely so that I don't lose any, I hate when I look down and see that there's a $25 arrow and broadhead missing! :(

Thanks for all the advice on stone cutting. I was cutting PA bluestone, not particularly hard stuff. I wish I could have done the water trickle thing but I was working alone and it would have been tricky. I did set up a fan which helped a whole lot. Went through a blade after about 10-15 minutes' cutting time which may have been due to dry cutting. The second blade, a Makita, seemed to work a lot better than the first one.

Here's the completed job. Not bad for a novice hack with a bad back who don't know jack. ;) I still need to continue laying in a border around the rest of the garage, plus I'm going to embed two more pieces of bluestone underneath the downspouts so I can stop crushing the extensions when I mow.

Try some Pedialyte, Kevin. Sounds like your electrolytes could use some help. I used to get leg cramps, sometimes wake me up at night. Very painful. Just a couple oz. in our morning oj, we're good all day, night. There are other brands that are cheaper, which I've tried, they're not the same. Be aware it has added sugar. I wouldn't drink it constantly, like athletes get paid to do, on tv. There are other supplements that can also help. Talk to your doctor.

    Cramps - cured!

I happened to mention to an older friend about having foot/leg cramps. These often occurred in bed, heck of a way to wake up at 2 in the morning.

He immediately said he knew the cure and dropped a bottle off the next day. I am delighted to report that by taking 1 or 2 every day the issue went away, I then reduced my intake to about 3 per week.

I have shared this with many people and they all had the same positive result.
The miracle cure: (The Calcium & Magnesium is the important part)

Yup... and just about any calcium supplement will work if you take it 3/4 times a week.

    I use a chewable, Viactiv.

Both calcium deficiency and magnesium deficiency can cause leg and foot cramps and medication like rolaids can sometimes treat it. But there are lots of other problems that cause chronic leg cramps. A few include Diabetes, chronic kidney disease, thyroid disease, and others. Some medications such as diuretics, hypertensive medications, statins and others can cause it. Also chronic use of antacids can cause their own problems. If the leg cramps I’d see a doctor. (How do I know this stuff? During part of my career I had extensive education in medicine.)

I settled on 3 per week and the cramps stayed away, ok with Dr.

Even better, after I retired I haven't had to take them at all.
I guess 12+ hours a day on a concrete floor must be not so good for you...

You nare right, I am wrong. The current passed bill is still in phase 2, the planning phase.

Looks really nice. In my younger years I would have just left it as is or added some gravel in the door area. The last shed project I laid Vermont faded green slate around the shed's exterior. It does make a nice look for the finished project.

Good morning, everyone. A visit to the nutritionist this morning then off to have my Tacoma's emissions tested. Going to do some type of seafood for dinner tonight, I just have not decided what to cook up.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Well, a blue sky morning to celebrate all that 1.72" of wet stuff! Many places got more on that same storm, but I have zero complaints. LOTS of very close lightning that made me go check outside. Looks like I don't have to rush into mowing, as rain chances are supposed to be late, and only 30%.

Mowed everything again yesterday, all-day event for this old guy. After it's finished, I'll sit on the porch, rest a bit, admire it, rehydrate, wife will stick her head out, ask if I'm ok. SOP. Life is good. Leaves on the ground, need to spool up the weekly gutter cleaning ritual, lay in a supply of fireplace fuel blocks. I get the greatest pleasure out of simple everyday things. Finally slowed down enough to smell the roses. 77 in a couple months. No covid, monkey whatever, polio, etc... just old.
