That's why @Taco critter stopped going to this one show in Pottstown because the same people kept winning every time; I have no idea if that particular show does people's choice, but yeah, it was very biased. As for the show at Cactus Grill, what floored me is that they were charging spectators $40 to get in!

I did one a few years back at a diner/pizza shop and it was people's choice. I took my antique Honda CB400F Super Sport of which Honda only made 5068 units so it's fairly rare nowadays. I've posted a few pics here on this forum in the Motorcycle thread and Honda threads. It's not perfect but it is nice for a bike that still gets ridden and not trailered. I knew a few folks in the car show and almost every one told me I should be a trophy winner. I lost to a nearly stock Harley Davidson Sportster with a handful of bolt on accessories that looked like any other Sportster you'll see at a bar on any weekend. He had a bunch of friends there and they all voted for their buddy so he walked away with the first-place trophy. Every show I've been to with actual judges I generally do well. I don't expect to win every show and really don't care but I want a fair shot.

I got points off in the stock import class at the 2019 Carlisle Truck Nationals because among other things my bed had scratches in it...

There would still be a big difference between a unit remanufactured by Denso, and a Denso unit remanufactured by AutoZone.

Well, it did not come from AutoZone, so I'm guessing that's a good thing...

Wow 40 bucks is nuts, they should have just left the donation amount up to the individual if they chose to do so.

I found the flyer on Facebook. The price is the same whether you're showing or spectating; I probably could have parked the truck up the road and snuck in, but I got a good look at the cars in the show and they were all locals who I'd seen before, so it wasn't worth it.

Also, note that $40 gets you two tickets if you're showing, but this isn't mentioned for spectators; I could understand $40 per vehicle, but if they are charging $40 per person, imagine how unaffordable it could be for a mom and dad with two or more kids 12 years old or older! Hell, even a mom and dad with one teenager would be $120!

I am in no way saying the donating money to cancer is bad a thing, but $40 a person for a car show is just ridiculous regardless of where the money is going! It would also appear that food and drink is extra... o_O

Same, there's a lot of great causes to be sure but only so much I can give especially with costs of living these days.

I donate 1-2 times a year to Vietnam Veterans of America and an Alzheimer's foundation (forget the name off my skull).

There's a bike forum I am active on and they hold a buildoff now and then, mostly funsies and bragging rights. I've entered a couple because I was building it anyway and it's similar to what you mention, everyone votes for the same brand of bike because it is so coveted and expensive.

Just tested negative for COVID on a rapid test this morning and a PCR test about 20 minutes ago. My parents are both still positive...

    :annoyed:

The most obnoxious part of this whole thing is that if I choose to go back to work, company policy says that I have to wear a mask for five days after they test negative; I refuse to wear a mask all day, so I could be at home for a while.

    @ABA180

Looks like I'm gonna be driving the Tacoma to Massachusetts after all, because my parents are still positive for COVID and being in the same vehicle with them for five hours even after they test negative is not exactly appealing.

But again, I have no symptoms and I tested negative on two separate tests today!

    :sorry:

It has been a long-ass week! Also, the original alternator was 12 years old and had over 140K miles, so it showed it's age. The AutoZone unit was only eight months old and didn't look much different from the new one. Here is the new Denso...

I did not put a whole hell of a lot of miles on my truck in August 2022, compared to the last couple of months. My trip to California from late July to early August, and not going to the Carlisle Truck Nationals as a result, played a role in this...

Currently stuck in COVID limbo. My parents tested positive yesterday, but I continue to test negative.

It has been nine days since my dad tested positive and seven days for my mom.

My dad and I both work in the same place, albeit in different buildings, and live in the same house. Company policy states that I have to quarantine for five days and then wear a mask at work for another five days after the quarantine period.

There are no provisions in the policy for employees who live with each other when one is negative and one is positive.

Tomorrow, it will have been ten days since my dad tested positive, and he still continues to test positive; I refuse to wear a mask all day at work when I continue to test negative.

    Exactly. Fuck this shit.

We are going to Massachusetts for a week starting on the 17th, and it looks like my dad wants me to drive up separately to avoid any exposure, so at least I get to take a parent-funded roadtrip in my Tacoma!
