So........where did you buy it and how much?
Where did you get the keyless chuck?
What it hard to swap chucks?

I looked back a page or three and didn't see this, sorry for the questions.

 

Got it via Home Depot; ordered online and sent to store for pick up. You can opt for home delivery as well.

It's the same price both at HD and Amazon, but I went with HD for two reasons -

1. Got it cheaper due to my military discount

2. Wanted to inspect the box before taking physical possession of it

Total was $246 (already including taxes) and it isn't much more than that elsewhere.

My biggest reason for choosing it was because it's got a cvt setup.



Adjustable lever here.



Speed is displayed up front. Rated for 580-3200 and infinitely variable between that, but mine digs a bit slower than that (a good thing).



Chuck was purchased on Amazon, and it's an Uxcell keyless chuck. Only $35 with free shipping via Prime. The WEN is MT2 tapered and is easily removable via the included 'key' and a small hammer and block of wood.

 

Can't tell on the small screen.. is that an LA on the shelf in the last image?

 

I was wondering what that was too, kind of looks like a compacting vibrator of some sort.

It's a 'hit & miss' engine; can't tell if it's an IHC LA, maybe a Lawson? There weren't too many with solid flywheels.

 

Yes. Yes it is! Good eye! The fairs coming in a few days and I have parts that are supposed to be here today so I can enter it and display it.

 

What's it's 1/4 mile time? 1000+ HP should make it pretty good.

It's a 1940's International LA Gas Engine. It make 1.5 to 2.5 horsepower.

 

Nice! Ours has a nearly identical chonk out of the belt pulley!

I've always maintained that hp is really a meaningless number; hp for old stuff like that, was, IMO somewhat more relevant because it tended to be bhp, but unless you know whether it's ihp, chp, nhp, bhp, etc the number doesn't mean much. What those things do have in spades is torque! That 1 1/2hp hit & miss will do ten times the work of a modern 5-7hp engine.

 

Oh okay. Theres a club out by me also that I might join. That's a lot of engines!
