Do you need to adjust it so it can dim? Or is it plug and play because I seem not to figure out how to make it dim out when the doors are closed. When all doors are closed the only way to make them turn off is if I lock the truck with the fob key.

There's a 2nd Gen thread for the Footwell lights. If your overhead lamp dims to OFF, then you might have an issue with the module.

mine came to the dimmest setting. The adjuster comes part of it. It comes with a tool to operate it. Possibly a tiny flathead screwdriver. I played with it to see the different levels then reverted back to how it came adjusting to the dimmest setting. So that when I’m driving it’s faint, useful, but not distracting.

which is how ambient lighting is on nicer cars that come with it standard.

I got it mainly for the usefulness of it turning on bright when I open the doors, to see down there, which it does well. I don’t think the brightness setting when the door opens is adjustable; only how bright it is driving with doors closed that I have set dimmest

I have a question about the Map and Overhead Cabin Light.
If you are parked in a parking lot, and you press Unlock on your FOB, will those lights come on?
Would help locating one's truck at night. Yeah, yeah - cognitive decline.

Yes, as long as the overhead switch is not in OFF position.

    Hello everyone!

First, thank you all for your overwhelmingly positive feedback on the footwell lighting kits. It took us a long while to catch up to the demand, but now I'm here to shake things up with Version 2! Around the initial release time we had requests for a "switched" version of the kit that ties courtesy mode into the overhead dome light switch position. Welp, it took some thought but we were able to get it done. This version comes with a harness that will plug into your overhead dome light panel and enslaves courtesy mode to the overhead dome switch. That means NO MORE A-PILLAR HARNESSES.
    tacoma_fwk_9_1.jpg

Everything will work exactly the same as V1, except the courtesy (high) mode will be controlled by the 3-way switch in your overhead panel. If it is in the DOOR position, your footwell lights will fade on when you open the door or unlock the door -- just like V1. However, if that switch is turned OFF then your footwell lights will not come on when you open your door or unlock the door. In addition, if you are driving down the road and you turn the switch to ON you will turn on your overhead dome lights + the footwell lights. We feel like this is a more integrated way of adding the footwell lights. Note: night mode is not impacted by the position of the overhead switch. So, no matter what, your dim/ambient setting will always turn on when you turn on your parking lights or your headlights.
    tacoma_fwk_10_1.jpg

We will be discontinuing the a-pillar harness that came with V1. V2 is now ready for pre-order and is expected here in about 2 weeks (production is wrapping up!). All orders from here-forward will be getting V2. If you purchased V1 and would like to upgrade to V2, you can purchase the harness separately using the link on the first page. You would just remove your a-pillar harness and drop the leads down from the overhead dome panel to the PWM.

All links should be live now, but it may take some time for retailers to update their listings to specify you are ordering V2. If you are unsure which version you're getting (say they have old stock of V1), just call them and ask.

Thanks again and I'm happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for including the ability to upgrade V1 into V2 functionality! Just to clarify, only the new harness is needed to go from V1 to V2, no extensions?

Edit: Glad I'm a hoarder and kept the breakout harness from my puddle pods to replace the V1 harness in the a-pillar.

Yep! No extensions needed. The V2 harness has leads long enough to go from the overhead panel, down the a-pillar, and down to the kick panel area.

That’s awesome! I literally just bought and installed my V1 like a week ago. Wish I would of waited for V2. To have the new awesome new features. Great product overall.

    Cool upgrade. Definitely interested.

However, when I try to order from the upgrade link (VLEDS), I get some recaptcha reputation error on checkout. Maybe they're not really ready for orders yet? :D

I'll have the team look into that for you. It seems to work on my end, but I'll see if there's a problem elsewhere.

Update: They just disabled the recaptcha, so try again!

They will! I should have all listings updated by Tuesday at the latest, and I'll also work on a standalone listing for just the harness. I'll drop it in here once complete. We're on the road through the weekend and web dev on the laptop is :bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:.

If you want to jump in early(ish) though feel free to PM me and we can work out a custom invoice.

Still get the recaptcha error. Tried a couple of different browsers, same issue.

No biggie, though. Figured I'd jump on it while it was front and center, I'll just try again later. I have ordered from VLEDs before with no issue, so ... weird. :)

So, update. Chatted with the VLED guys, maybe something odd on my side (they confirmed disabling the captcha), so I'll try it on my laptop later, maybe something odd is going on with my desktop.
