    Hello everyone,

I have been on google for a couple of days now and cannot find a definitive answer to my doubts. So I bought at an auction 2022 Tacoma TRD Off Road with a damaged bed. Currently I am getting a quote to see how much will cost to get it repair. In the mean time, I search a junk yard in my area and they are selling a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport complete bed and depending on the quote, I might go that route. My question is, do any of you know if the 2017 and 2022 beds are interchangeable? Are they exactly the same besides some minor details such the tail lights? Just want to make sure that if I go with the bed purchase the truck will look like a 2022 Tacoma and not like a piece together truck. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated it. Thank you in advance.

    Oh look, another mod....
The dimensions are the same from 2016 - current. The only difference is lights/no lights, cubby hole/no cubby hole, etc...

It will be just fine. 2017 bed is actually better, it has little cubbies.:)

I think the newer beds come pre-wired for the bed lighting kit but since you're already to the point of putting on a whole new bed you might as well go ahead and get that thing wired up before its installed if you will end up wanting that.

    Check build thread!
Flat deck that thang! Jokes ( or well, not really a joke) aside, there’s a few tiny differences, but it’ll fit.

@cryptolime - I do not know much will cost yet, but the two sides of the bed assembly might need to be replaced about 930.00 each, the tailgate will need to be replaced as well and the bumper. According to body shop initial inspection, frame seems to be O.K. The bed on a junk yard cost about 4,000 including tail lights, bumper.

@Jesus06 are you sure there's no frame damage? Seems unlikely a '22 be sold at auction (totaled?) For that minimal damage .

@bulalo - That was the initial inspection, I hope it stays that way. There was also damage to the front bumper, grill and one of the head lights.

Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate it. I will go with buying a bed since it cost around 4500 to repair the bed vs 3500 for buying the 2017 complete bed.

Tacomas can have a Short Bed (5 feet) or Long Bed (6 feet). Make sure the auction and junk yard beds match up.
