Well after a huge hassle with the dealership, I finally took possession of my LR Off Road Tacoma last night. I tried to get the special Toyota Tacoma APR but she said I didn’t qualify. My credit score was over 800 so I don’t know why that is. Anyways, so I was approved for 4.39 % but in order to get the 4.39 percent for 72 or 75 months, I was forced to purchase Gap insurance and an extended warranty. Otherwise the credit union was going to charge me 7.9 %!!!! This was according to the salesperson. It was basically the same price in the end but I did not like being forced to have to buy that. So I almost just didn’t go get it, but decided things probably are just going to get worse. Anyway, long story short they then tried to add $2k over msrp when that was never discussed. I started to walk out , but then they said they would take that off since they couldn’t prove I was told that. Keep in mind, this is the 2nd Tacoma I have bought from this same salesperson. You would think they would treat return customers a lot better than that. Another issue was that even though the truck was supposed to be ready, it was not. I had to wait on them to install the predator bars and bed extender, and clean the vehicle(which they did a poor job of). Needless to say, if I ever have to buy another Toyota, I will be going elsewhere. So, end of story for now. Here it is!268A56A5-AB1F-4E63-9D1E-14F24E5605BE.jpg

Nice truck. I would be headed to another dealership. The gap insurance and extended warranty seems a fit odd. Enjoy it!

Nothing yet, I reposted the temp VIN yesterday for Rod to check when he gets a chance. Hopefully he won’t see anything meaning the build date of the 29th was successful. I think my salesman is on vacation until the 5th so even if the temp is invalid I might have to wait a bit to get the permanent VIN.

They hit me with that same scam. Told me I needed gap insurance when I put $15,000 down. Total BS. They said I had to wait 4 months to refinance out of the 7% rate but the contract says there is no early prepayment penalty so I'm going to do that ASAP. Screw those guys

When did they hit you with that? I am putting down about the same and nothing other the rate and payments were discussed or written down on the deal.

That’s because they won’t make any money. I was going to try to get a different credit union on my own but they said they would charge me more for the truck. That’s because they won’t make money on the deal. Same thing if you refinance within so many days. So if I was you, I would refinance ASAP. What they are doing is so wrong.

My dealership try to play the same game putting $15k down they came with 6.99 at 60 months. I have excellent credit I objected they say there was nothing they could do so I grabbed my stuff and left about 3 hours later the salesperson calls telling me I could get the 2.99%. I had already called CapitalOne and was offered the same rate. Lets just see what they cone up when the truck arrives. Even with the keys on the table and a truck ready to go I will walk if they try to play any games.

Remember, dealerships make more money on financing and service than on the new vehicle sale itself. That’s why a lot of dealerships have gone to local customers only with the current low inventory (better chance of them getting to service it). And also why they are getting the most they can out of the financing terms.

Are you paying MSRP on the truck ? Kind of a sneaky back alley way to get a market adjustment via the financing.

Kind of dreading any surprises when my truck arrives and I head out to settle. I’m paying a Market Adjustment so will probably be the most pissed off I’ve ever been if they try anything other than what my excellent credit score dictates.

That’s ridiculous, they’re making ample profit on the sale already. Are you in PA? I’m paying the same MA so hoping it’s not the same dealership. They did provide me a printout of my monthly payments qualifying for the 2.9% with a range of down payments.

Yes Easton. Shopping at K33. Thats what pissed me off I am paying $2000 and they still come with that. Unfortunately a lot of the NJ dealers only wanted local customers and the Allentown area ones were pretty bare of allotments.

Careful with that printout. Apparently it's independent than the price on the side. My numbers reflected the price before they knocked money off and it wasn't till I ran the numbers through a loan calculator that I realized the numbers were wrong. I was concentrating on the sale price and didn't look at the monthly payment. I caught it a few days later and the finance guy said "hmm youre right, no idea how that happened"

For sure! The first monthly payment they quoted I called BS on and back to the manager he went and came back with a number more in line with what I expected. Still seemed a bit high so I sent a photo of it to my brother who spent some time working in the Finance Dept at Chrysler (and loves to wage war with car salesmen) and he said it checks out.

This was in July. Just bracing for some last second shenanigans directed at my wallet when I head out there to close on it.

LOL. Great, K33 is where I am awaiting mine. I chose them because it was all supposed to be above the board with the internet price.

Guess I will hold off on the bed mat and other parts I was going to order through them. Last thing I need to do is haul an hour out there and them feeling more confident that they can find a way to ding me more assuming I won’t leave without that shiny, new truck.

It seem to be their standard playbook. I will also be on the alert when it finally time to pick up the truck. Funny I was going to order the bed mat and side step too but decided to just concentrate on not getting s%#w on the truck first.

I also decided to delay some items (bed light, step, mat, tonneau cover, cat shield). That is now my birthday, Christmas, Fathers Day list. All I’m adding at delivery are the steps and mudguards.
