A boat will tow way better than a travel trailer. I have towed 2500 lbs of jet skis and a travel trailer. No comparison.

Whatever gen only problem will be if it's a Prerunner 2wd and steep and/or slippery ramps you will not have a fun time.
If 4wd no issues tow on. Any Tacoma if backing into salty or dirty water and the rear spring shackles go under the bushing will fall apart sooner - if poly much sooner.
If 2 gen the plug-in is low under the bumper so corrosion will affect connections if submerged. Other questions read the Towing Bible section.

Don't know why he is like this, he says similar thing in every transmission thread. He thinks he knows better than the auto manufactures who say trans temp should be 180 degrees, the manufactures of transmission fluid who say it should be 180 degrees and the transmission rebuilders who say it should be 180 degrees.

He either got beat up too much or not enough in school. To just sit there and always say why is a real dick move.

What evidence do you have? What is the proper temperature for a transmission to operate at?

Depends what you’re comfortable with. I towed my old BP5 Legacy GT Wagon on a heavy UHaul trailer (probably about 5800lbs) in my brothers truck with 5.29s, 35s, and a tune. Also had an aluminum shell and rock sliders. I thought it did great even going up and down hills in SoCal. Coolant and trans temps were steady. My Taco I have yet to tow with but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

The idea to lock out top gear is to reduce heat, keep converter locked.

Let the gear reduction create the torque, not the converter.

Hunting is bad for heat and converter wear.

ECT and S5 for sure. I always recommend against top gear towing on any vehicle.

I have issue with claims about facts without evidence. I think humans too often believe things only because they have repeated by their fellow humans.

What qualifies as evidence then? Why doesn’t having nothing to counter others information bother you? You’re just dismissing things because…someone else said it?

Peer reviewed scientific study is a good start.
