I would tend to agree with you about taking seats out. I did it both ways on two different Tacos. If you lay them in the sun before install it will make them easier to pull on.

Little tree air fresheners. Clazzio black leather seat covers.
I will say that this time the install was super fast and easy. To pull the old covers off, install the new covers and install the seats back in the truck was MAYBE 15 mins per seat. The covers and seats w/old cover were sitting in the sun and it was fairly hot out side. Set the covers in the sun, grab a towel to set the seats on in the grass and work in the grass and shade haha.

I've been doing seat cover research for a while and really leaning toward the "leather" Clazzios that are leather in the middle, vinyl on the outside. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned (though I’ve been scouring through all the seat cover threads lol) is how "grippy" the Clazzios are. I really like the feel of the stock cloth seats, how getting into the truck, I just slide into them really easily, if that makes sense. The fabric is so smooth, not at all grippy or clingy. Can anyone compare the experience of the leather Clazzios to the factory seats in terms of friction?

I actually like the stock seats fabric pretty well but want to protect them from spills, stains, etc. Torn between using a Scotchguard-type product (looking at Chemical Guys FabricGuard or their HydroThread Ceramic Fabric Protectant) and just seeing how that works, or going ahead and covering them in Clazzios.

    Thanks for input.

*Edited to say: I'm not interested in any neoprene type seat covers, because in my understanding they make the dog hair harder to vacuum off. And I end up with a lot of dog hair in my truck Lol

Not grippy at all. Fairly slippery.

Awesome, thanks. I tried some fabric seat covers and they were too grippy. Glad to hear the clazzios aren't that way.

I agree. Not grippy at all, actually on par with the factory cloth. The one caveat is that if you get extra aggressive with the leather polish. The seats get slipperier than snot if you do that. :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:.

Haha, noted!! Guessing you speak from experience lol Thanks for chiming in, though - no way to know about the grippy factor ahead of time other than to ask. Looking like I’ll be ordering some clazzios and wrestling them onto my seat soon.

Awesome news! Mind if I ask how long you waited? Mine have been showing "Container" since mid-May. Guessing they are sitting in a container somewhere off the west coast waiting for the ship to be unloaded...

Sorry for the late response. Mine took about 16 weeks to get here. I was watching mine on the website and it went from order placed to production to in warehouse to shipped. I would email them they are awesome to deal with and got back to me quickly.

Installed them Saturday. I may get grief for the red but I like them.

Put in an order today for leather Clazzios (an in-stock set, black with red stitching) and their customer service was awesome. Highly recommend giving them a call. I spoke with Logan who was super knowledge and helpful, and got my order in the mail within an hour of me placing it - and the TacomaWorld code worked over the phone for the $80 off. Should have the covers on Wednesday!

I finally got to see first-hand the difference between PVC and leather.

I just had to replace my rear PVC (I did something dumb and punctured by dropping a sharp tool). The fine folks at clazzio walked me through the process and recommended I replace it with leather, since it would cut the estimated lead time in half.

Appearance wise, they are near identical. You really have to get up close to see any visual differences, and even then you wonder if you're imagining things. Feel, it is also identical to the touch.

However, the real difference is discovered only after pinching the material between your fingers, so that you are only feeling the top layer and not the foam backer. That's where the leather finally shines, it is noticably thicker than the PVC. But I really, really had to work to find that. I'm sure that will mean something when it comes to durability, though I doubt either could have withstood dropping a sharp tool into the surface. :anonymous:

Leather top, PVC bottom. If you zoom you might see a grain pattern difference in the vinyl bolsters. (I guess that's what they mean by "high quality vinyl" vs just vinyl.)
    PXL_20220902_005223653.jpg

I am happy to say that after one year of dogs, dirt, mud, and tool droppage, the seat still looks exactly like the day I covered it.

Finally gave in. I currently have Ebay $25 fake leather in the fronts right now.
Just ordered DK Gray PVC for my Dbl Cab...I hope it can handle MTB sweat.

Have had my Clazzios for a couple weeks now and I’m really happy with them.

They happened to have what I wanted in stock (Black leather with red stitching). I spoke with Logan at Clazzio who was super helpful, honored the TacomaWorld coupon code, and got my order shipped out the next day.

I was concerned about the install, because I’d injured my hand. Logan suggested reaching out to local car audio shops to see if they would do the installation. He said the job should take a professional less than two hours and gave me a sense of what would be a reasonable price range for the install. I found a local car audio shop that also does custom seat covers and they agreed to do the install for $105 per row (so $210 total) - right in line with what Logan said. Ideally I would’ve saved the money and done it myself but that wasn’t going to happen with a busted hand so I’m glad with how things worked out.

These pics are from right after the covers were installed. They’ve settled in more since then and no longer have any creases whatsoever. They look fantastic and I’m glad to have easier to clean seats (especially dirt and dog hair). Really happy with how they feel and have confidence in their durability. Also very impressed with Clazzio’s customer service.

    Two thumbs up @Clazzio
