The application of the Fluid Film was successful, but I didn't want the messy can in the cab and left it sealed but unsecured in the back of the truck. The result was predictable...

I had a bit of an altercation with a local alcoholic named Joel at Helen's house today. Helen is in Texas with her family for the week, and she asked me to park my truck in her driveway whenever I came to town and to spend about thirty minutes sitting on the back porch every other day, so it looks like someone is home. I'm happy to do this.

My buddy helped me do the Fluid Film application at his house in the Lehigh Valley area this afternoon, and I made it back to Helen's by the evening. There is this guy named Joel who has been banned from every bar in Doylestown due to his antics, and is so universally disliked by the local police that they go out of their way to arrest him or press some kind of charges when they are called on him. He has gotten several DUIs, his license got revoked, and he has given up on ever trying to get it back. As a result, he rides a bicycle everywhere. He got banned from the bar where I used to work for causing trouble, and he got banned from another bar around the corner from Puck for dropping dry ice in his drink and filling the place with potentially toxic smoke (Is it smoke if it's from ice?!?!)

So, he would occasionally water the plants for Jim and Helen when Jim was still alive. Gardening is his obsession, kind of like my obsessions are HVAC and my truck, among other things. There is nothing wrong with this.

The problem is that Joel is an alcoholic and drug addict, who becomes very unpredictable when he drinks; I am pretty sure that he was at least somewhat under the influence when I saw him today. So, here's what happened...

I pulled into Helen's driveway at about 6:45pm, and I was sitting in my truck with the driver's door open and one foot out the door. All of a sudden, I heard something hit the side of my truck and it scared the shit out of me; I turned around, and there was Joel, standing behind me with his right hand on the bed of my truck ...

I have gone out of my way to avoid this guy since probably 2016, and here he was cornering me between himself and my driver's door. Joel is very tall, well over six feet tall, and rather scary-looking as a result. I would have not minded having a gun or even some pepper spray at that moment, because of how unpredictable this guy is.

Joel heard through the neighborhood gossip chain that Jim passed away, and he knows Helen is in Texas. He was concerned that Helen's extensive garden wasn't getting watered and offered to do it, but he already had me on edge because he was clearly intoxicated and being a bit aggressive.

I stupidly commented "Oh, you're the guy who got banned from the bar where I used to work."

This pissed him off, and he said "I've been banned from every bar in town. Why does that matter?"

I then noticed that he was still leaning on my truck and asked him not to do it, expressing concern about dents. He brushed this off and said "I won't dent it." I got a bit more firm and said "I don't like people touching my truck." He got the message and stopped leaning on it.

I didn't say yes to him watering the plants, but I didn't say no either, because I was unsure what Helen would want. Joel staggered off and I called Helen, who told me that she did not want Joel on her property and that if I happened to show up and see him there, to just keep driving and call her. I also notified Helen's neighbors directly across the street of the encounter.

I realized as I was typing this that I did in fact have a weapon; I keep a decent-sized knife in my truck because I never know when I am going to need one. My knife was within reach during my entire encounter with Joel, and I'm going to keep it on my person the next time I'm at Helen's when nobody else is there...

I would have told him that you were watering the flowers for Helen.
And hoped that would keep him a way.

As for leaning on the truck, I’d probably start the truck and move forwards of backwards.
Forced him to stop leaning on the truck. Then when I parked it, I’d have said, maybe this spot is better for NOT having people lean on my truck.

Looks like you and me have the same luck.
Do tell me, have you ever been able to use super glue and not glue your hands or fingers to what ever you’re working on.
    Because I never have.

About five years ago, I was leaving the bar where I worked to run an errand, and this same guy (Joel) thought it would be funny to jump from between two parked cars directly in front of my truck on purpose. It wouldn't have been fatal to Joel, but if I hadn't been paying attention the impact would have either knocked him on his ass or possibly sent him up onto the hood. He probably would have refused medical treatment, but my truck probably would have been damaged as well, and I would have ended up suing his wealthy family for repair costs. I did have my dashcam by then, I had evidence that he was purposely being an idiot.

You have to let it wear off. Or use carb cleaner.

But you shouldn’t use carb cleaner. And I’m not saying to use carb cleaner.
I am saying I use it. And I’m not particularly worried about the dangers of getting it on MY skin or into my blood system.

Things don't get into my skin or my blood system; I've been sharing a house with my COVID-positive parents for a week and I'm negative...

They've actually cut him off for the time being to keep him from spending it on booze; Joel has actually served time before. I don't know if he's ever been charged with or convicted of a felony, but it would not surprise me if he is a felon.
