Nah , no Rivian for me. I don't need to go 0 to 60 in a couple seconds. The quiet ride , comfort and little more range would be great for me. I only travel from NC to GA once a year tho.

Id definitely get this. But this company I've been following for almost 3 years and all they have shown is a clay model and nothing else. They do have a great computer rendering dept. all of their pics on their site are just renders.

Oh yeah, lots of cool looking renderings of different models and zero substance. Total vaporware as far as I can tell.

My daughter told me today that my headlights, oem full led, looked liked the rivian. She’s only 8 so I had to set her straight. It was a hard blow to my ego. I wanted to tell her that she was her moms daughter and had nothing to do with me. Reproduced asexually.

It’s good to be self employed, even though my boss can be a dick at times…

…should I start yet another “what is the biggest tire I can run for without a lift” thread, yah??? :p

Those are cool have a Datsun 620 vibe to them.

Do like the Rivian, but cost too much with too many draw backs currently for what I need out of truck. Machines are supposed to make our lives easier. New technology is supposed to better than the outgoing, having to make sacrifices with range and “refuel” time is going backwards, imo. Making sacrifices for top dollar? Yeah, no thanks. If I am going to drop nearly $100K on vehicle, it would a diesel F350, be $30-40K cheaper too how I would spec it. That and waiting for them to go bankrupt at any moment.

AWD Sprinter E with a maxed out roof array and a pair of solar awnings would be pretty legit #vanlife. Stick a little genset in the back and allow charging on the move, just in case, as well.

Especially if it has some kind of “auto-pilot” feature.

Nah, don't get me started on autonomous driving. I don't think I'd be okay with more than L3 'some (predefined) conditions, full human driver onboard' stuff. Maybe basic L4, but almost no one has a good 'handover' process dropping from automatic to manual control in a safe manner.

I’m not talking more than L3, just enough to make the long drives easier but still driver engaged.

That's fair. Merc has a L3 system going in Germany, but it's low speed L3. Kinda the opposite of what you're talking about though (high speed boring road L3)
    https://insideevs.com/news/584686/mercedes-level-3-autonomous-tech-launch-germany/

Heck, even TSS can be okay with low speed traffic. (adaptive cruise + lane centering when in stop and go). Enough that I trust it mostly unless someone's being aggro then I take over and get a little closer to the cars in front, heh.
