So I work in a city where people just like to help themselves to your stuff with no repercussions, what cover do you use for your taco? Trying to get ideas

You'll probably want a hard cover. Most of them are either coated aluminum panels, some type of composite(hard plastic,) or a combination of both. All the ones I've seen are essentially locked when the tailgate is closed, so getting a powered tailgate lock would be convenient.
There's a ton of options so you'll have to do some research before deciding.

I had the bakflip MX4 and it was flush fitting, and locked in place when closed. If tailgate is locked its basically secure back there unless someone goes buck wild on it.

I have a Proven Ground hard tri-fold. Aluminum covered in vinyl. Looks like a soft cover but will make it inconvenient for a thief. I dont carry much in the back of much value any longer so I went inexpensive. More worried about looks than security. I have owned aluminum roll ups (pace edwards) and solid fiberglass lift style (leer or A.R.E. cant recall for sure) The ARE was the most secure but the least user friendly. Jackrabbit was easy to use but kind of homely. I like the one I have now better than the others, but its not as secure.

I have OEM only because it was on the truck when I bought it.
It sits on top of the rails which I think gives you a little bit more interior height than some of the flush fit covers, not sure though. It’s also fairly easy to remove entirely when necessary.
I don’t like that the top rail plastic covers had to be modified for the hold down pins, and that those pins protrude into the bed space when the cover is off.
It also seems like the front and back edges are never fully down, especially when compared to the center section. It isn’t much difference but it is noticeable. I’ve seen that on other trucks too.
If I was to buy one it probably would not be OEM, unless I got a really good deal on it.

My bank isn’t broken. Ask for a quote. Saved me quiet a bit of money going through the forum. But, if you are just looking for something cheap you will most likely have to find something used or low quality.

Bakflip G2 here, a hard tri-fold basically the same as the MX4, just a different finish. I also added the OEM automatic tailgate lock, that way when I lock the doors the tailgate is also locked and the bed is secure.

Well, kinda hard to give objective recommendations since we don't know what your bank balance is? Maybe state your budget range for this purchase to better narrow down your options.

I didn’t spend very much. I got a solid solid trifold. Locks when tailgate up. Of course lock the tailgate. My trifold I can can stand on. I like the ability to open 1/3 2/3 for space when the item is taller than 23” . On previous taco I had a full side fiberglass that opened to about 40 degrees. If you needed to put something in it you had to remove the heavy top it required 2 people. So go for a solid trifold, the roll one I had on my t100 was a nightmare in the winter when it shrunk slightly. Good luck you should spend 200-300 if you look

I have always used Bakflip covers. I’ve had the G2 and the MX4. They were both excellent and kept the bed secure.

A Diamondback cover would be the most security you could get if you have the money to spend.

THE best hard tri folding cover that will still allow full access to the bed is the Undercover Armorflex.

I also have the OEM tri-fold. It's a nice cover and was on the truck when I purchased it used. With that being said, I am not too sure I would leave anything of value in it for any length of time especially in questionable areas. It is secure when locked but seems like it might be easier to break into than some of the other brands mentioned. Fortunately, I'm lucky enough not to be in situations where I have to haul and store stuff in the bed.

I ended up with a RetraxPro XR. Mainly for the tracks above the bedrail, so I can still put risers and bars on it. And, I can roll it all the way up, even when fully loaded up top. I'll get a better pic in a little bit, if needed.

BakFlip G2. Paid $720 on sale @ BakFlip store on Amazon. You have to watch for sales, but I've seen it at that price a few times.

You may also want to think about how the cover mounts to the truck before you choose. Many aftermarket tonneaus require separate rails and/or removal or modification of the oem bed rails. This might affect what you're able to ultimately do with the bed.
