I'm getting 6112s put on next week. I'm thinking about getting lifetime alignments at Firestone since I wheel often and my truck seems to go out of spec occasionally.

What do you guys think? Or should I just let the 4x4 shop handle it, but I'd have to pay each time... I've had my truck 8 months and have put about 17k on it. Going with .7" lift setting in front, staying stock height in rear.

    Thanks

Depends on techs working at your local Firestones. Some of them suck I hear unless it's simple stuff. I've also heard some of them are dicks & won't give you the lifetime if you have modified suspension. I don't know the truth in that though.

I've had lifetime at Firestone on my truck for 4 yrs now. There's a few in my area but the one I go to the store manager is really cool. He did put in the system that I have aftermarket coilovers & UCAs. The tech (older guy, union) I always request does a decent job. Will always try to hit the numbers that I request and will show me before finalizing & taking off the rack.

I've definitely got my money's worth. I just got an alignment last week as a matter of fact & a few weeks before that (my LCA bushings were shot, had to replace em). I kinda feel guilty now that I've gone there so many times without paying anything. So now I tip the manager (not always) & the tech $20ea everytime I go.

I have a lifetime on my truck and a couple of our cars. Last time they did my truck their machine was obviously not calibrated, as the sheet showed good numbers but camber was visually way off. I took it to a local alignment shop and had it redone. They have also been hit and miss on my cars. I go realrey enough that it is probably a different tech each time. Unless I really screw things up probably won't get another till I do ball joints. My previous Tacoma had it done right when I bought it as it came from the factory out of spec for alignment. Ten years and 120k miles later when I sold it it was still on its first alignment and no uneven wear. It did see a fair amount of offroad during hurting season and some pretty heavy towing.

I had it on my 2018 and they had a hell of a time with appointments due to being way under staffed.

For yours and the aligment techs' sake, upgrade or weld your cam tabs for lower control arms. They flatten very easily when offroading and will make it impossible to get alignment in spec.

I have the FS lifetime alignment. No real complaints got my money out of the deal. Currently replacing flat cam tabs.

Service Managers at my store only allow the techs 30 for a Lifetime Alignment.. Meaning you will probably not get the exact numbers you expect the first time. When I went out to the shop to talk to the tech about how my SPC UCAs worked he filled me in. He was happy to do the work "Get that truck out of here, times up" calls over from the Service Manager, and then he told me to keep making appointments and he would keep working on it until the numbers were right.
