Finding the replacement and waiting for it was the worst. Fortunately I was able to pull the driveshaft and drive home in front wheel drive

The nut should also be replaced. They are only good for 1-2 tightenings. And if you screw up the threads on the shaft, then that's big money vs a $3.00 new nut. Also, I like to leave the new bearing mounted hand tight first. Then start the truck with rear wheels off the ground and put the trans in Drive or in 1st gear and let the driveshaft spin slowly to help the bearing mount find its centerline along the length of the driveshafts. Then shut the engine off and tighten the bearing mount.

Makes good sense! Appreciate the tip I have all the parts arriving Wednesday so plan to tackle it then. Been bathing the mounting bolts in fluid film and PB for a couple days now so its gonna be a fun one.

Ok so got the bearing on an when I tightened it this is how it looks. Should I try an straighten it more? If you look where the bolts are you can see its not straignt.20220901_134038.jpg

That looks straight enough. Road test it and see how it feels.

I wouldn't worry about how the bolts look... I'd be checking that the bearing is 90 degrees to the drive shaft.

I would have let the mount find its natural position. Remember, the actual bearing is in alignment. The hunk of rubber it is pressed into is just sitting in the mount a little cock-eyed (can I say that now?). By twisting the mount to get even spacing in the holes "preloads" the assembly. It's reminds me of people who install and tighten upper control arm bushings with the suspension hanging. But in any case, your installation may last 9 years instead of 10. Did you stake the nut after the final tightening?

    The FSM instructions on this installation are below: 0 +/- 1mm (0 +/- 0.039")

The whole 90 degree to shaft I have no idea how to insure that. Yeah I staked it and reassembled based on my markings to line it up. I didnt have a torque wrench to know if I got the 134 ftlb tightening as mine went out but I hit it decent with the impact then loosened an had a torque wrench to get the 2nd torque spec which was 64 or 61 what ever the manual said just cant remember right off

And that is just square to the shaft right in front of the bearing?

If the actual bearing is pressed all the way on the machined end of the intermediate shaft, then it has no choice but to be perpendicular, so you should be good. The OEM bearing is closer to having the mount perpendicular than the aftermarket bearings, therefore the FSM instructions are to make the mount perpendicular. Again, perfection is not required here. And frankly, I have never torqued that stamped steel nut to 160lb ft. That number is just to insure the bearing is pressed all the way on the shaft. When I am certain the bearing is pressed on all the way I back off the nut then go for the ~50 lb ft. Stake the nut and you're all set. Cheers
