I recently purchased this emblem from eBay to place on my new TRD Sport. I'd like to put it on the tailgate opposite the V6 emblem. Does anyone have an idea on where to start and how I can get the emblem in line with the other one on the opposite side? I searched the internet and haven't found anything. Thanks in advance for any input.

Maybe a yardstick? Or you could go high tech and use a tape measure. Cheese and Rice dude!

I hate putting stuff like that on. You get one shot at it and if you screw up you get to look at it forever :anonymous:

Sometimes things like this aren't so much about an actual measurement, more about looking right.

Make a tracing of the emblem on blue painters tape, carefully cut out your new tape emblem.
Now you can stick it on truck and step back and see if the location looks right.

Use more blue tape to give some reference marks and then place the actual emblem.
    Good luck!

That's not a bad idea at all. I just purchased an AnyTime frontal camera, so I may just let my car guy put them on when he installs the camera since he's OCD about that kind of stuff. A few extra dollars for my peace of mind!

Might be money well spent.

You can feather touch it on stand back, get a feel, and adjust accordingly, I’ve done this on multiple occasions. I do like the recommendation of using painter’s tape to template it as well.

I agree 100%. I'm thinking about offering the service tech cash money whenever I take my Taco in for the first oil change to see if he'll put them on for me. I'd certainly rather pay someone than attempt crooked letters and have to look at them forever like you said.

Awww heck man. I’d just go for it.

When I replaced my silver bed side decals with the factory red ones I just laid down some blue painters tape as a reference for level and location.

WORSE case if you get it crooked you just remove it then re-purchase it. Ask me how I know!
    LOL

Thoroughly clean the general area. Tape it in place with a small piece of some 2" painters masking tape. Try different locations until you get the look you want. Once happy with that, put a "hinge" of masking tape across the entire top of the emblem. Lift up the emblem and remove the emblem backing paper, swing it down and press. Remove tape....done.
