Don't use spray galvy, it's OK for touch up but not full scale painting, in my opinion. If you're going to keep the frame upkept with WW or FF, I'd hesitantly say it doesn't much matter what the base is since it should stay protected. That said, I've heard good things about Eastwood products for encapsulating rust, that could be a viable option for you. Otherwise, I'd say any rattle can primer suitable for bare metal should work.

Okay, cold dipping would be a little excessive and very heavy but if you're going to blast it I would look into a DTM and I can get you a sprayer to apply it or I can spray it out for you. If dtm is for you I have lots to pass your way.

For the record, truck is NOT being stripped... or I WOULD dip it.

The person that is gonna handle the frame, does the whole thing..
Did my buddy's SD a while ago, still looks pretty good.. he just never had it sprayed with FF/etc...

And the frame rust isn't bad at all... just figure.. I'm going through all this, might as well freshen it up... buy another 10 years.

Just wasn't sure on whether to paint, prime, or, as @AllTacosFloat mentioned(wasn't even on my radar) DTM.

Just wanna clean it up, knock scale and surface rust, and encapsulate...

I wouldn't recommend linex, if there's any moisture under it it will cause issues down the road

I had Rhino Liner applied to both of my Tundras when they were new. Worked very well and was grippier than Linex.

Talking about applying to a vehicle frame though, not a truck bed.

    Direct to metal

No primer needed and sticks to everything. Usually used in industrial settings

Late to the party...again.... It is a misconception that poison ivy "spreads" once the initial oil from the leave is washed off. It appears to spread as some areas of rash show up before others but really what is happening is that the areas that have had more oil exposure flare up first then the areas with less exposure flare up progressively. The same is true regarding thickness of skin. The same amount of oil exposure to thinner areas of skin will show a rash quicker than thicker areas of skin. The result is that it appears that the rash is "spreading" when it is not. Once again this is assuming that all oil has been removed and no new exposure to new poison ivy is occurring.

Here's a teaser for the 4runner I'm getting. I feel like the hard top almost seems to belong on the tacoma

TIL the JBA UCAs I have are like the old old ones where the bushings have metal sleeves… couldn’t press them out so the truck is out of commission until I can get my shop to press them out on Tuesday. THEN I’m out of state for a week, so shit will be sitting until next next weekend for me to install.

Big thanks to @crashngiggles for the reassurance that we weren’t doing shit wrong.
