2011 Tacoma. Intermittent no start. Occasionally will not turn off (will stay running with key removed) and yesterday started without the key in the ignition. No start problem is more prelivent when truck sits for 24 hours or so. Ignition switch is my first thought but seems like it may be more. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome

How did you turn the ignition to crank with no key in?
Or did it just start on its own?

It started on it's own. No key in the ignition.

I'll bet there's an aftermarket remote start under there that's going haywire.

Just replaced the ignition switch, thinking a spring broke and was going haywire. No luck. I'm thinking the key cylinder as I can remove the key and the truck stays in run position.

That's possible but I would take a peek under the dash near the steering column and see if there's any aftermarket wiring goin on under there.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Interference tripping remote start ? Evil rodents chewing remote start wiring or other physical wire damage.

When it fails to start possible remote start failed to the limit starter in cool off time out.

Add a really worn key or lock cylinder to the mix.

The interesting part if it is a ignition switch issue the engine should have kept cranking after the engine started it would be unable to drop out.

I would love trouble shooting this issue.
