Something isn’t right with the exhaust. It’s melting the front plastic. Other than that I did a valve adjustment and ran her for a good hour. Mowed three yards and had a beer. New mower blades are nice too. All and all for under $500 I’m pretty happy so far.

Now to try to figure what to price it at.

 

Good power no smoke starts easy? 48 or 54” deck… I’d say that’s $1,800-$2,600 all day. Looks clean.

List it at $2,600 and send it. No bites after the weekend lower it $50/ day for a week and see who bites.

 

Any body know if this is a fair deal? Doesn't state hours but by the looks of it, I wouldn’t think they would be very high. I’ve often entertained replacing my JD 210 with something mainly more reliable, but also with a little more power. Which I’m not sure this would be more reliable or not but, I’ve always read good things about wheel horses.

Gotta ask a specific but simple question about the machine itself that would be obvious to an owner but not obvious to a scammer

 

If it’s legit, that’s a deal.

 

If it isn't a scam that is a deal, that is a real GT not a box store job.

Checked crank case vent. No obstruction.

Still smokes on deceleration.

Heads and valves look close to perfect.

Still seems low on power, but not enough to keep a person from mowing.

With those compression readings, the thing should run fine.

Maybe this is the one I keep and just run it to failure? I dunno?

Yep. But with the close to factory compression readings, I'm not thinking the rings are bad. I could be wrong .

 

Not much else to them if its not on the head/valves its lower end

Did you do the vacuum check?

 

No, I still need to do that.

I haven't put that on the priority list since the fuel pump is vacuum activated. It pushes gas very well.

i did not. I had been checking my email all morning and did get a reply so figured it was a scam. I just checked again and saw this reply. Do scammers these days reply that the item has sold?
