Looking for a way to make my speakers louder (2021 Tacoma)

It goes without saying, but did you change the rears out with the same impedance as the rest of the speakers? And does the JBL amp have any form of adjustment on it (I think it's located behind the rear seats, but not positive).

 

Need that front signal the rear signal is weak.
have my sub signal of front right also I just have it all faded to the front. Next step for me would have been a amp for all door speakers but didn’t need it this worked for me. Simple fix

My radio is all Sirius XM and the music sounds great depending on the era that I listen.

 

Adding sound mats to the doors would probably make it a little bit louder.

If you got bounced 22,000 miles from a ground station to a geosynchronous satellite and back down to a moving receiver in 0.26 seconds, you'd be compressed too...and probably puckered

 

Spotify with volume turned up seems to be the loudest. Plus, the Spotify app has a built-in EQ with additional control settings

 

I used to live in Atlanta and drove "the top end" I-285 east and west. Burned lots of time in the car getting to and from work. Dangerous highway - maybe the most dangerous in the country. Anyway, you quickly discover, at least on some Sirius XM stations, the content is repetitive. It's the same - nothing good is on - even with all those stations. Frankly, I like mixing up my own personal music, with Pandora and Spotify, and Google Podcasts, etc. To me, Pandora and Spotify have always sounded better than Sirius XM, but that's just my opinion.

 

My brand new 2022 Limited with the JBL system is probably the worst system in a vehicle I've heard in the last 15 years! It is embarrassing and I'm shocked JBL would put their name on it! The Bose system in my Mazda is very good and plenty loud from the factory, in fact it is so much better than the JBL system in my Tacoma I seriously think that there's something wrong with the system (though there is not). My Sony system in my 13 year old SHO was far superior to the joke JBL put their name on. Now I'm not going to go spend a bunch of money on new speakers and more powerful amps it's just not that important to me but as the OP had said the system is wimpy and lacking in almost every respect. That's my two cents!

 

I wonder what changed in the 22s that makes them so quiet? That’s three in this thread alone with the same complaint

 

It happened on my 2019 . very poor performance at low volumes. You have to crank it up to hear anything

 

Mine does that sometimes. I think it could be the amp on the way out. Too bad there isn't a plug and play amp that has more power because I like the rest of the setup.

 

2021 w JBL here. same thing as op. some music is better or worse, but there's very little juice to be had regardless.

 

If you really love your tacoma and you REALLY want to mess with it read up the threads where people soundproof their trucks with insulation/mats etc. I bet that would greatly improve the stereo sound.

 

i was replying to a comment that suggested the lack of output on JBL systems was associated with (only) 2022 Tacomas. but yes, you are correct that sound deadening/insulating is one way to improve the audio environment of a vehicle.

 

I already asked this, but what source are you all using?
Changing settings in spotify is literally the difference between listening at 20 and 40 through bluetooth for example.
I could aux in with 1/8” or usb. They all play at different volumes and quality

It’s not an exhaustive poll or anything but two 22 owners were the ones who had spoken up at the time I commented. Since then many have chimed in, but none sharing how they are listening. Just makes me grateful it’s not a problem with my jbl

 

i geddit. i'm saying, it's not restricted to 2022 JBL systems.
