Intensity of darkness is same as anywhere. Length of day & night are what get outta whack.
EDIT: we do have areas where there's no light "pollution" ... so that makes it seem more intense.

Don't areas closer to The Pole have certain times of the year where it doesn't get very dark and times when it doesn't get light?

Yes. Inside the Artic Circle I believe .... which starts above Fairbanks. Here, in southcentral, we get down to 5ish hours of daylight in Winter.

Like "Humpty Dumpty Meets Knight Rider"? That video is probably a lower budget version, car-wise at least. Thanks for straightening out "Yamaha Newb..." as I was thinking he couldn't say YamaLube. (oil for a Viking and Grizzly, or their outboards, which reminds I should go shop for a new 4-stroke outboard for the Maine Guide Boat -Grumman version (3 hp was great back in the 1960s with this boat).
ADF&G field camps were great for star gazing and seeing incredible northern lights displays, and several years later Steve Newman, leader of the Domino Kings band from Springfield, MO asked me one night as we left the Alaskan bar in Cordova (60 degrees, 33 minutes N.), if it got dark that night. "Yeah, but you missed it!"

It ain't that bad, but working nights, it is why I nap a couple hours when I get home in the morning, then get up for 4-5 hrs to do whatever, then back down to sleep 4-5 hours before work. If I didn't in Winter, I'd never see daylight. ;)

Best northern lights I ever seen were caribou hunting Chicken, AK in early September... 4500' and temps @0°F ... you could hear the crackle and zero light pollution ... beautiful display I'll never forget.:)

I found myself browsing that forum while waiting for Ramp folks to get done working an aircraft so they can build up a couple pallets for me. It really is scary out there.

    G’morning

you guys are a chatty bunch. I go two days with no reception and you added 10 pages. On a truck forum. Where the people specifically DONT mess with their trucks and the mod drives a hatchback. WTF?

Went camping. I’m completely blown away by the National campgrounds in Hoosier National Forest. Spotless Bathrooms with hot showers. Every site secluded. Didn’t hurt that this weekend we were the only ones who didn’t check the forecast. Got soaked. Still had a great time though. EB76F805-2AB0-4186-8FB8-B7990BB3CE76.jpg
