I can't remember the last time i adjusted the vent direction. Seems like a millennial issue.

I'm a millennial (who's pushing 40 by the way) and adjust my vents quite often. Way more than my seats which I haven't touched since day one. I hate vehicles with digital climate control, digital vents would drive me mad. Just extra complexity for no reason.

It actually does provide more air and from spots the vents can’t. This is the driver side of the new Model S dash with the same vent setup (no Rivian parts available for pics yet). You can see that air “comes from” the instrument cluster (this vent is actually working in conjunction with the vent above the cluster too).

That may work better (nothing wrong with more air) but I still wouldn't want to navigate to a new screen just to change it. The extra vents would be nice but I'd still very much prefer a quick physical way of doing it.

A quick flick of a vent while driving, to me anyway, is preferable than navigating the head unit while driving.

If you're a set and forget type of person than it's maybe a non-issue. Like I said, I've set my seats just once, but I still wouldn't want the controls on the head unit when they've always been fine on the seat.

Damn being a "millennial" and not wanting a screen to replace regular buttons and controls.

Funny you are using YouTube to make that statement. Some YouTuber will probably buy it so that they can make content that they make money on that covers that delta.

Hideously ugly, and already plagued with mechanical lock/unlock glitches, grinding sure to fail tonneau etc...

But the mobile app is really clean and looks cool on your phone.

Speaks volumes on the demo this targets.

I’m not concerned because a lot of the issues can be resolved with software and those that can’t with hardware that can be rolled into production.

I don't really see how you can compare two truck with such big price differences

No concerns about any of this either?

    - $5 billion projected loss this year
    - Price increases
    - massive layoffs
    - Soros selling all stock and walking away
    - Amazon solely keeping them afloat

    Nope.

Price increases don’t impact my pre March 1, 2022 order.

    Layoffs weren’t “massive”.

I don’t invest or purchase based on what George Soros does

Amazon purchasing Rivian would be a bad thing?

    Okay then.

"Elon Musk said that both Lucid Motors and Rivian, two US-based electric vehicle startups, are trending toward bankruptcy. The CEO said: Unless something changes significantly with Rivian and Lucid, they will both go bankrupt.Jun 14, 2022"

I have a preorder, not a locked in purchase. If they haven’t change anything in the next 6 months that is leading to their bankruptcy, don’t you think it will be even more evident in their financials?

They've already adjusted the numbers and announced the $5 billion dollar loss for the year.

    What more do you need?

"The EV maker says it expects a wider loss of $5.4 billion in 2022, compared to the $4.75 billion guidance in the first quarter."

Rivian will survive, Amazon or Ford will buy them out if worse come to worse. Amazon has lots of trucks that still need to be made.

I agree as long as you are the only driver or your driving partner is similar size as you. I think it’s more crazy that there are electric motors or servos at each of those vents. It’s just one more thing to break. Same with the tailgate opening button instead of a normal handle.

I was just reading the comments on the R1S auction. They are pretty entertaining. One about the tiny rear wiper stuck on as an afterthought on a $80K+ vehicle. It does look pretty ridiculous. Why would they not have it hidden in a spoiler like a 4Runner. We have a flashlight and Bluetooth speaker though.
