I just bought a mid-level TRD OR and noticed on a backcountry trip that my Taco doesn’t seem to have a compass. It does NOT have navigation as an option. Does it have a compass?

center dashboard screen, should be on the "nav" tab (the circle with the triangle in it) use < > keys on steering wheel to select. then the v ^ keys to select the compass when inside the proper tab.

However; i am not sure if this is dependent on your truck needing navigation package. but idk my 2019 trdor came with it by default

TRD Sport has the compass in the center multimedia screen between the speedometer and tachometer. I also have it on the head unit, but I do also have the JBL/NAV package.

Lol…I don’t have that display option.
I don’t have that display option in mine. I only have four icons at the top while you have six. Also, the rear view mirror is just a mirror. My damn Miata has a compass; why not an “adventure” vehicle?!?!

It's a tech package thing for the center display. I believe mirror compass is standard on 2020 and up.

Toyota doesn't think a truck should have a trans temp gauge, and you're surprised by the lack of a compass? LOL

I think you’re right. I tried turning the mirror compass on by holding the on/off button, but to no avail. It may be burned out.

BTW, my truck has a manual, so no trans temp gage, either.

I don’t have that. Here’s my display. Can I add additional icons like yours at the top.

Yeah you need the NaV unit for the compass which is dumb as shit, found this out as I swapped my 2019 headunit with nav for a 2022 headunit without NaV (for CarPlay) and now I don’t get a compass! Lol oh well I’ll take that trade off.

that being said, I have an extra 2019 HU with NaV if you want it

I wonder what else is not included if I can’t get a lousy compass on a $42,000 car.

Guess I’ll stop bitching and order one from Gentex.

You did not get the "adventure" vehicle option. For your safety, please keep the vehicle on paved roads. If you do go off paved roads and get lost, please send smoke signals and the TW Search and Rescue team will come for you after the doughnuts and coffee are finished...doughnut-tower_tcm25-571465.jpg
