I learned that driving it around after adjusting is important only recently. During my last preload adjustment, immediately after letting the truck off the jack it was 0.5-1” higher than after driving it around over curbs and crap for 10m.

I don’t understand understand the reason for this. Bushing friction?

Not sure about the technical reason as to why this happens, but I figure you had all the weight off the shocks, they fully extended, and they just need to resettle to their actual position.

No prob, you’ll get it sorted, but definitely listen to what @AccuTune Offroad is saying, they didn’t just make this stuff up for the hell of it.

I don’t think it could be the shocks. They don’t have enough friction. I can compress them my hands. At the same time, I’ve watched videos of people cycling their suspension with their hands with the shock removed. It’s a mystery. It’s possible the various parts have more friction when under the full load of the truck than when unloaded.

    **Product Update**
For those looking for extended travel King rear shocks, King just made a few changes.

    25001-121-EXT and 25001-121A-EXT *Discontinued*

25001-121 and 25001-121A - Now have an updated design and will have very similar lengths as the -EXT had. The design change is pretty obvious, see below.

Was there ever a compelling reason to not run the -EXT version?

Absolutely not. But I've heard of several instances where customers were pushed into buying those due to them being in stock vs a good fit.

So I can’t be the only one who’s run across this issue. I tried search a while ago, best I could find was some poor cuts made, as well others advised to beat the 90 flat and drill it. 1st photo what I’ve seen online, next photos what i did.

It’ll help someone, maybe not everyone.

Or... I think the BAMF bumper braces may work without modification.

After much searching of the interwebs... I could not find anyone else having the same issue I have discovered. Behold...

From what I can see, nothing looks out of whack. The scuffs say otherwise. I sent a plethora of pics to accutune and had a convo over the phone about it. They are checking into it to see if they give some ideas about what is going on or what happened. Anyone else see this before? Collar isn't cross threaded and the lower spring perch appears to be seated properly.

Accutune was great and gave me some pointers on where to start, even though all they had to go off of was pictures and a couple conversations. I took it to a local off road shop for their input in person, and since they had the right spring compressors, tools, etc. This shop has experience with King, Fox, etc.
One concern observed was how the end of the coil on the bottom, was positioned right over the opening of the lower perch. It was suspected that may be causing the spring to bow. The threaded collar was not cross threaded. Initially that was a possible issue as well. My bad for trying to adjust pre load w/ out using a spring compressor, and not paying attention to the spring and perch spinning and where they ended up. The weird thing is, there were no issues until I started backing off pre load. I had cranked it up too much initially. Lesson learned.
The local shop rotated the coil spring 180. After getting it back on the truck and romping around a bit over the weekend, it looks like we got it figured out. I will keep you all posted if it shows up again. Just figured I would throw all this out there, I surely have never seen it before, and many others haven't either.

Could anyone with 650 springs help me out and give me the inches or thread count for preload? I have some Kings coming in a few weeks and would like to have a general idea of how much to adjust them so it's about right the first time. I was going for 24" hub to fender. I have sliders, skids, bed rack and RTT, will be adding a roof rack soon. Will be going to a winch bumper next year so I went ahead and ordered them with 650 springs to future proof my setup, I just can't find any pics of 650 setups to get a sense of how much preload to set it up with.

Thanks for the links. Right, I get what you're saying. There's no way to get it setup exactly right until it's on the truck. I guess what I was looking for was something like this so I can get roughly close before it goes on the truck. King extended coilover

Well in any case I'm pretty excited to get them. I ordered them from you guys, looking forward to trying them out.

No problem, just trying to help you avoid the "well yours was like this, so why isn't mine?!". Trust me, I wish we could preset these to exactly what everyone wanted the first go around. However, if you did know exactly how much preload you wanted on the coilover, thats something we can probably do ahead of time.

Anyone have issues with the remote reservoir not fitting well in the bracket?

2nd gen here, but I installed my kings yesterday and can only get one clamp on the driver side reservoir. Reservoir is contacting the top of the wheel wheel and won’t lay flush in the mount. I have it slid down as far as the bracket will allow (reservoir is touching the bent edge of the bracket bends on the bottom).

Passenger side is tight, but was able to get both clamps on. It’s not touching on the bent edge of the bracket, but it is making contact with the wheel well up top.

Wondering if my body mount bushings are just really worn out, especially on the driver side?
