Ok, so fenders etc would need modification? Maybe I'll just add the shocks set to 2 inches up front. The truck is nearing 200k on the original suspension.

Anytime that you run 285s you’ll have to cut the fender along the cab mounts even with a lift 265 is the biggest way you can go without altering

I kinda need new tires now. but didn’t feel like dealing with the lift just yet.

I don’t wanna get stuck with 265s for another chunk of time.

I know better do it right or don’t do it.

understand, but do you have the wheels to fit 285s? You can run 285s but just be careful not to stuff them to hard on stuff and they WILL rub turning..

You have a high chance of the 285s rubbing your UCA

Could 1.25 wheel spacers do the trick there to avoid UCA rubbing?

Sorry I came from the jeep TJ modding world. I don’t own of those anymore

Spacers, how much you want to cut and modify.

If you plan on leaving the pavement, good luck and god bless you! Post pics!

You can certainly make a 285 fit without a lift...you just need to do the same things that you'd do to make it fit with a lift.

You'll want zero offset on the wheels to get them away from the UCA. As for the lift, if they don't fit without the lift they aren't going to fit with it since a suspension lift doesn't change the size of the wheel well or the path the tire travels when the suspension cycles.

Running spacers to get away from the uca will make contact with the bumper and cab worse. Your increasing the radius of the tires path anytime you increase negative offset (spacers or - offset wheels). If you don’t mind rubbing a little and don’t articulate your suspension very much it will probably work with 0 offset and no spacers.

By 265, I assume you are referring to stock-size 265/70R16s? Perhaps consider switching to 265/75R16? I just did so on my truck this past weekend - and lovin' it.

Thanks for all the info. I want this thing modded right if I do it.

I bet new 265s Would still look cool with the bil 5100s if I got tires first.

im torn, because I want to build and overland Classic defender 110 in a few years. Imported 90s model with 300tdi But I want my old reliable taco to be refreshed a bit.

Edit. They are 70s! This solution will work. Proper Lift eventually.

I think my general grabbers might be 75.
But they are so worn now. And unevenly worn. So I was thinking new shocks and an alignment would go along way before new tires

LT285's for a daily driver..... why, you must not like your $$.

SL / P Rated 265/75's that are light would be your best choice and look good even with a 2in lift.
