Has anyone here been black listed by Toyota.

I will try and make this as short as possible.

Last year I was looking for a 6MT Pro. I couldn't find one so I settled on an auto ELM. While I was waiting the two months for the auto to arrive I found a 6MT that was listed as in production with an ETA of 5-6 months, so I leave a deposit on it. I pick up the auto because with all the delays who knows if and when the 6MT is actually going to arrive and I really dont like it. But I can live with it till the 6MT comes. Well a week or two after I get the auto, the dealer with the allocation for the 6MT calls me and says bad news, Toyota cancelled the PRO 6MT on us, along with any truck that requires blind spot.

So not wanting to be stuck with the auto and risk an accident or something like that I sell it to a Toyota Dealer and figured I would wait until things get better.

I got a call on Saturday from the dealer that bought my 22 auto from me and they say they got an allocation for a 23 6MT due end of October and ask me if I want it. Yes Please I say. He says done deal I will put your name on it. Come see me Tuesday after the long weekend. I phone him right at 9am to set up a time to come down today. He says we have a problem, it looks like you may be blacklisted from buying a Pro because you already bought one and sold it. He says he has to phone corporate to find out what's going on but cant until tomorrow as he is off today. Hopefully he can get this resolved. I will be pissed if I am

I knew they took some exclusive measures like encouraging dealers to ask for VIN numbers to sell Pro parts, but not to this level. This is super-car type shit.
I would think it's the dealer you are dealing with and not Toyota in general. On the other hand, it's not real hard from the to flag who buys and sells a Pro in a short period of time, and assume they are profit flippers. Like and other biz, they are going to brand themselves, and weed out anyone they feel is a threat to that.

I recall GM is doing something like this with the new Z06 and some of their other anticipated vehicles as well but if you purchase and resell the vehicle within a (1) year time frame you will be banned from future pre-orders and I recall there was also some potential issues with the warranty not being transferable or limited in some aspects. I wasn't aware of Toyota doing anything like this but it wouldn't surprise me.

I know that Ford did something similar with purchasers of some of high end Shelby's and such. GT for sure - if you sold it too soon, they'd never sell another to you. They're trying to keep the secondary market price from getting out of hand.

I cancelled my Ford Lightning deposit because they came out with the same junk - no resell for a year. If something comes up or it’s a lemon, I’m selling.

sucks that you are flagged as a flipper.

another possible flag- did you make a profit on the Pro?
I mean I am not against capitalism, but that goes both ways and Toyota would protect their brand too. I am thinking of how concert tickets have become over the years, and nothing is done about it,,,, just continuous to get more and more ridicolous.

Why would an auto trans cause an accident?

Bad news but I understand Toyota's position. Good luck with other brands. And, if they are like other brands, they simply won't do business with you ever again. There is no rule that companies have to sell to everyone as long as there is no discrimination.

I would escalate with the dealer. Speak to the highest guy at the dealership you can, explain the situation how you wanted an MT after getting the AT (say you hated it/wasn't the truck you wanted, try not to say this was your plan all along). Even if Toyota black listed you the dealer should be able to speak to someone and get an exception made or reverse the blacklist. The dealer is going to have an easier time getting this solved than you calling Toyota yourself. Just send email/call as much as you need too.

I think he meant getting in an accident before trying to sell the truck back. Didn't want to risk that.

Ha. I read that a couple of times too but I think OP meant not risking having an accident in general before the new truck came.... Not that the auto would cause it.

I won't rule out that OP is one of those MT boneheads that claim they "don't know how to drive an auto" though.

There have been lawsuits, threats and smear campaigns from people trying to get off the list. Nothing works, especially if the guy made any profit.

Honestly not really. I traded in my vehicle when I got the PRO auto. I paid MSRP for it. It was a lease so the Toyota Dealership bought out the lease and cut me a check back for my trade in amount

You are correct. I did not want to get into and accident with the truck or have someone vandalize it. as for being a bonehead well.... we will leave it at that.

Why should/would Toyota Corporate play ball? Not like it's hard for them to sell a Pro these days.
