i took the time to fill it out last night. i thought it was funny they sent a nice crispy dollar bill through the mail, haha.

my main complaints from what i can recall were about the paint (debris/dirt), the little annoyances (chirping fan), the overall lack of power, rpm hang and poor 6th gear.

some of the positives were the storage/cab room, off-road/adverse conditions ability and driver visibility.

anyone else fill out that monstrosity? it's pretty dang long, especially if you do it honestly.

I got one for my wife's CR-V. It asked 5 questions related to the truck and then 7 or 8 PAGES of questions about what we watch on tv, how long are we on the internet, etc... They were more interested in our media habits then the truck. I kept the buck and tossed the survey.

weird. yeah this thing was exclusively about the truck, very detailed. the only questions about anything other than the truck was what cell phone i use in it. it was like a scan tron and the flow of information made sense.

I took it but wasn't able to write any comments about the minor issues so I think the results get skewed.

I only got an email to an online survey. This is the "initial quality" survey for the first 90 days of ownership? It just so happens my truck was completely trouble-free in the first 90 days, and a month later the chirping fan cropped up.

no, it's a v6. i don't think it is that powerful, especially whem loaded with weight. it's ok, granted, it is a truck, but the last vehicle i had made more power out of an engine half the size, STOCK. apples and oranges maybe, but not really. also, i feel that with other companies offering more powerful options (colorado/canyon v8) OR allowing supercharging to be an option that can be financed (like they used to do), i should be able to do the same.

buying a truck and then buying a supercharger and getting it installed is not the same as getting it off of the lot that way.

    Well said Mr wippersnapper!
What I tell everybody (other pickup owners) I didn't buy a Tacoma to impress them, I bought it to impress me,,, and I didn't buy it to win any races to see who is faster, or to see what truck hauls more, I bought it for me!
Other pickup owners brag about their horsepower and torque, I brag about my gas mileage, other pickup owners say I buy Japanese crap, I tell them their Chevy is built in Mexico and my Tacoma is built in Texas.
Other pickup owners brag that their truck is worth more, I tell them their full size truck will be worthless or be worth the scrap price of metal once gas goes above $4 a gallon!

The Tacoma accelerates faster than the Colorado/Canyon V8 from what I remember reading in the car mags. Keep in mind part of the performance comes from the relatively light weight (300 lb lighter than a Frontier, for example). If you load it up with cargo, you can't expect the same performance.

Would I like more power? Sure. I'd buy a Taco stuffed with the GX460's 4.6L V8 in a heartbeat (hell I'll take the torsen center diff too :D to run full-time 4WD). However, I don't consider the current 4.0 underpowered. 278 lb-ft of torque (on premium gas) is enough to chirp the rear tires and slide sideways.

you can NOT finance the supercharger, i tried.

    from Toyota:

The TRD Supercharger and/or TRD Cold Air Intake are to be sold as a dealer installed or over-the-counter option, after the retail sale of the vehicle. The Supercharger and/or Cold Air Intake may not be sold to the customer at the same time as the new vehicle and may not be financed together with the new vehicle.

you guys might be happy with the power, and that is ok, but i'm not. i don't care what anyone else thinks about that and you aren't going to convince me to think like you on that subject ;) also, i don't understand the statements about buying the truck "for you"...of course you bought it for you. the same reason i want more power out of the box is the same reason they offer the TRD blower and the same reason people buy it - they want more power. i'm used to more power in my vehicles and with the blower i think it would be ideal, but i that has to be purchased and added seperately, as mentioned. i also wouldn't mind a v8 option.

no need to be defensive about the truck - i'm well aware of the benefits of a tacoma, that's why i bought one
