Oil Cap left Off for ~2k miles, discovered while i was out offroading.

    Just did that today, had some generic cap on until i could get the grade labeled oem one (they are on national back order, only 3 in a 50 mile radius of me) and tossed the generic one in the bed in case it happens again

    Update: I changed the oil today and the filter and the filter had almost no dust/dirt in it probably a few specks between each pleat. ran some costco oil thru it, drove about 60 miles round trip to work and back and changed it again with TGMO. Everything seems to be fine.

    My guess you would of known by now if the missing cap cause a problem. These engine's are far more precision machined than ones back decades ago. I would think any serious amount of dirt would cause an immediate failure.

    So this is gonna sound wild, but I had the exact same thing happen haha. Found the cap in my skidplate. I’ve had no issues, 30k later.
