Removed my ARB, Went back and forth over my In-house fab snorkel or cowl intake…I got tired of people asking”have you ever had water up that high to use the snorkel?” :facepalm:So I went with “to not snorkel”

I don't carry a spare when I'm just DD, but got tired of not being able to open my canopy without opening the swing out first. So I cut off the top and welded a plate on. Now I'll make a bracket with the piece I cut off to bolt to that spot when I do want to carry a spare.

Would love to be able to open my cap without opening the swing out, but I don't think I could manage to move the tire down far enough. If I pulled the tire I'd probably constantly walk into the bracket.

Mine will still end up as high as it should be, but your swing out doesn't look like it would be as easy to modify

Thats funny I think the same thing whenever I see a snorkel but then again if you pay attention and watch river crossings that initial wake goes over the hood and sometimes even higher given the vehicles speed. Better safe than sorry, you dont want water in your engine. Youll have to post a picture of this completed. Very interested to see how it turns out.

if I had .5¢ for everytime I’ve been in water enough to come over my hood I’d have .0¢ lol my thought if it’s deep enough to get that high you’ll likely have some electrical issues before water in the intake

That's not much of a cut off. See my illustration below.

I'll try to remember to grab a pic when its dark. Im running Osram Super Bright Premiums (90/100W) which have a significantly brighter light output than most all LEDs and still use the focal properties of the halogen reflector to keep them from blinding people. Unless I go to high beams, then the eye of god shines upon whoever is in front of them.

I do have to admit, I run LEDs in my stock fogs(also halogen reflectors) but don't use them on the road because of the scatter. The Osram high beams combined with the LED fogs produce an absolutely heinous amount of light and would likely kill oncoming drivers, to death.

I went snorkel for dust not water honestly. It’s a nice perk in case I come across some water here and there. Obviously the rest of my vents are extended to highest possible spot. But yeah, clean air for the good ol 1GR.

True. I would think most who do snorkel their rig intend for it to bring the inlet out of the dust. I think the cowl intake and snorkel serve the same purpose it just comes down to aesthetics and personal preference

indeed, both ways provide extra protection so I totally approve. The Aussie look was a total winner for me, plus I got a really really good deal that I couldn’t pass

Im running aftermarket projectors with Halogen Philips X-treme Vision +130% Headlight Bulbs along with DD SS3 sports yellow. LEDs bulb spill cannot be controlled by these type of reflective or projector style automotive fixtures, there are special parameters built into systems made for LED based lighting. Here you can see a hard cutoff line of the headlights, defined hotspots, and a line between the headlights and fog lights.
