Wouldn't shock me if they're floating the titles too.

Heck, i bought my tacoma in boston ma. and i live 160 away on the ct, ma, ny border. This large dealer had no problem selling me one over the phone. Its the non authorized sources that are profiting by selling them, they want to shut down.

It’s a Tacoma TRD Pro….I could understand a new Z06, a GT2, or a Italian exotic (who would want to sell one of those anyway?) but this is is ridiculous.

I would buy a competitors vehicle and write a strongly worded letter to corporate. Ensure you include a photo.

Might I recommend a JL Rubicon with the 4 cylinder turbo that can actually go off-road. Put a Fox suspension lift from Accutune, some 37’s, re-gear to 4.88, axle braces…and go have a blast. This one has 40+k miles in its current build and is currently exploring all of Alaska. You’re welcome.

I thought about buying a TRD pro just because they look cool, but wound up buying an SR because TRD pros cost like $70,000 in the Bay Area.

You can have 2 trucks for that.

Same for the SR5 Trail. $10,000 mark up.

I paid that much for my Lexus IS350 and GMC 3500 Diesel truck in the same month. 70K dollars for a Toyota Tacoma...wow.

Dublin and Oakland Toyota are the worst offenders.

brand new, never been titled? If that’s really the case, I’m sure that won’t last long. BTW I’m not saying you’re wrong, if you say it’s so, I’ll take your word, just not sure they’ll last or what they’re really doing.

Was it a base model rental? What didn't you like about it? Specifics. Comparing a 90's XJ Jeep to a current model...I need to hear this.

Not surprised. Saw a dude selling 3 TRX's on BAT or whatever. Saw the same thing with Broncos being sold.

in purchase of my 2017 Pro 6MT i had a deposit on it for about 3 months and GST cancelled the allocation on this dealer and redirected it to another DFW dealer. rather than make it hard for me, the original dealer looked up an old coworker who worked at the new dealer, and that kept my hands on the allocation after adjusting the paperwork. no issues, no extra expense, no penalties. not the same situation exactly but similar.

Well…… here is my situation as of now. I just spoke with the sales Mgr. My name is on “the Blacklist”. Toyota Canada will not sell me a vehicle. No Pro, no Tacoma, or anything else. I called Toyota Canada customer service. They looked into it and said the same thing. They said they don’t have to and won’t give any explanation or time line. Said there is nothing I or anyone can do and I can’t escalate it any further. My only hope is the dealership can get somewhere with this. The Gm said his Toyota sales rep won’t touch it as it is coming directly from corporate.

Are you sure it wasn’t a Jeep renegade?

The seats I’m my buddies JLU are very nice. I can’t comment on the interior. I have only driven it maybe 400 miles. The GPS is whacked and does some stupid shit. That I can complain about.

I know you didn’t drive the 4 banger Turbo. That is a very impressive motor with plenty of get up and go. (270 Hp/295 tq). The V-6 feels pathetic, so if that is what you rented…I can agree with you on that. You definitely don’t want e-torque. Those are problematic POS.

I can’t comment on the handling. My buddies had the recall done on the steering box, replaced all steering components with manly shit, swapped out the aluminum knuckles with forged Reid Racing ones. His steering is very responsive. I have heard from others the factory steering blows.

Thanks for replying. Good to hear others opinions.

Wow. I would tell those Manitoba dealerships to suck it.

Lessons learned I guess on patience and never settling for anything.

    That’s for sure.

I’m not much for new stuff these days anymore. I’ve been looking at Nissan Patrols (1967 or so) or LC 70 series. I want something that runs on peanut oil if need be.
