A little bit of this, and a little bit of that.
Definitely not the worst in this thread, but I was in a parking lot(who knows where, just one of them) and a few days later, saw a good scuff on the front bumper from where someone tried pulling into the spot next to me and cut it too hard too soon. definitely don't care in the slightest, because I'm getting a new bumper somewhere down the road, and its barely noticeable, but just the fact that someone cut it that hard to get into the spot next to me is quite impressive! however right after this, I got stuck driving through a freezing blizzard, and so much ice and dirt built up on the truck from going straight for 300 miles that when I would turn the wheel, i had about 180 degrees of steering before the tires would rub on the ice!IMG_3181-preview.HEIC.jpg

Let me paint the setting, Friday, 4pm, 91 degrees, a quiet side street in Wilton Manors, FL. BAM, first blood! The striking vehicle accelerates from a private driveway and hits my truck just in front of the right front wheel / suspension. Luckily, zero metal damage on the fenders/ hood, the rubber and plastic nose parts or everything from the AC condenser forward was shifted about 3".

Preliminary estimates, $5k. Body shop expects the estimate to increase when the work begins.

Now that one hurts a lot more than some of the others here, including mine. When it leaves a mark on the Carfax you know it was fucked up!

I know, now the truck is a known offender in the carfax or similar systems. I'm hopeful the diminished value claim will offset the reported accident.

I thought I had it bad, but you all are making me feel better!

5 days into ownership, a couple hundred miles on the odometer.

A lady in a blue F250 backs into the passenger rear corner of my Tacoma, while it was parked at Snowbowl.

I was not there, she noticed she hit the truck and then just started driving away.

Snowbowl security stopped her, got her info, and left a filled out form on my windshield.

Cracked taillight and damaged bumper cover. Took a while to get paid through her insurance, but I came out on top in the end.

No money, all went to truck...
damn this is a painful thread to read. so terrible.

Happened to my brand new 2nd gen. I was polishing it for the first time, my 2 year old daughter decides to help but rather than something soft she picked up a rock and started swirly motions like she was polishing it...

All my cars have dirty hands swirlies embedded in the paint. Part of having a 2 and 4 year old. Can't have anything nice.

Nice colour..looks kinda like my General Lee

In both examples I would have called the police no questions asked. If people are just that obnoxiously ignorant I refuse to let them off easy, even if I was driving a $500 shitbox like I had in high school.

I stand by my belief that when a vast majority of the population (even the meek/mild) get behind the wheel of a vehicle they simply loose their minds... power trip ?

Or just people care not a whit for anything but themselves, though I do agree driving seems to be a spark of this.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the recent incident where I had the tailgate down and Snugtop rear window open while working in the bed in the garage. Got done working and proceeded to shut the garage door on the still-open tailgate and window. As the door came down, a bolt wedged the window and jammed the whole works up. Dammit. Couldn't open or close anything. Finally managed to creep the truck an inch forward in the garage (hoping I wouldn't go through the drywall), enough to dislodge the stuck rear window and close the tailgate.

Put a nice scratch in the plastic on the window of the shell. I am my own worst enemy. Sigh.

Mod list... Well, my paint is factory.
I know this is a 3rd Gen thread but I figured I'd contribute anyway. I bumped my Pelican Rifle Case into the C-pillar on my truck within 2 weeks of driving it off the lot. At first I was bummed but then I quickly remembered that I bought the truck for activities that were going to scuff it up. A week later when I pinstriped it in the desert I wasn't even bothered.

I'm not sure why I started this in 3rd Gen, also not sure how to change it now. Thank you for the post!

This thread is FULL of cringe-worthy stories, I love it, but it is also hard to read at times. Thanks to everybody who's posting - keep the stories coming!

A couple months after getting my Tacoma....deer stepped out and met her demise and did some damage to the bumper and fog light. As you can see I used my expert body repair skills and zip tied it together until the parts came in. $1850 in damage. Fixed now, awaiting the next mishap.

    Working on it ...
Had mine maybe two or three weeks and always parked out in the middle of nowhere. Got home one day and noticed something on the passenger door. Took a closer look. Somebody went out of their way to key me a 2 1/2 - 3 inch checkmark on the door. Was not not happy …

That's awful - reminds me of the quote from Pulp Fiction - "What's more chicken-shit than fuckin' with a man's automobile? Don't fuck with another man's Vehicle. You don't do it. It's just against the rules."

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.

Lol I have a feeling ill say something similar.... it's bright orange! Literally the color of traffic cones!

3 weeks after bringing my new to me 2018 the neighbor door dings the passenger rear door. At the time I was none to pleased. But these days it has quite a few rocky mountain pin stripes.
