How hard is it to add wires to the passenger side door? 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport. Thanks.

Does anyone have any insight on what I can use to snake through the OEM rubber tube going to the door. Metallic wires, etc, can damage existing wiring.

Are you trying to add blinkers or heated mirrors or something like that? Because it would be easier to disassemble the wire bundle, add your wires, and then rebuild the bundle. That tubing at the door is pretty damned stout.

Look up videos to install Meso's puddle lights but in short (and off the top of my head):

    1. remove the door panel and speaker for access to the wire.
    2. remove the decorative footwell cover for the passenger side that covers the wires and harnesses
    3. I found it easier to remove the rubber boot from both sides (door and body) to snake the wire through. It's easy enough to push back in once done
    4. Remove the tape at both ends of the rubber boots and then I just carefully used a coat hanger to snake the wire through. I found going from footwell to door easier than the reverse
    5. Zip tie the wires in the door frame to existing wires, making sure you dont obstruct the window. You'll see the window tracks in there.

Not bad. I’ve done it twice on the Tacoma and once on the tundra on both doors.

I would suggest using a dab of dish soap running wires through.

2 orifices to exit/enter additional wire without messing with the OEM wire bundle...boot ends need to be removed from door and cab.

I used 14ga Romex. Tape the end of you're concerned about damaging other wires. I tried AC zip ties and they were just too flimsy. The wire worked much better for me. Just keep an eye on the wire as you feed it through, you'll see it wanting to rip and poke through the boot as it turns. Soap may help lube up the wire as you feed it through as well, although I didn't find that necessary.

Working on adding power folding mirrors. Got parts from KTJO4x4.com. Most of the work is disassembling and reassembling the mirrors. Started with passenger side. I have the 360Cam, which complicates things. Camera in bottom of each mirror. 14 OEM wires to each mirror. The fold actuator adds 2 more. Lot of work for a limited return. Not sure if I would have started this project if I had known how much trouble it is (KTJO makes it sound easy). Not sure why Toyota doesn't offer this feature on a Tacoma.
