Anyone have any experience with the new SR5's on trails and in the snow? How are they with a good set of A/T tires?

Huh? There’s TRD Off-road and SR5, two different trims. SR5 handles just fine with a decent set of tires off-road.

I do know hardcore Offroad guys like the SR5 cause it's a clean slate for modding. They can build it how they want it.

SR5's are perfectly suited for offroading.

All tacomas just need are a decent set of tires and an enthusiastic driver.

Take it out, learn the limits and decide what you want to do.

Share pics if you do get out, even if its a dirt road.

With respect to off-road performance, All the trims with 4wd are basically the same with some differences that most people will never need. The all-season tires on the sr5 will likely be it’s limiting factor.

EDIT: if was going to run fast in the desert, I would definitely want the v6.

EDIT2: I’ve owned both an SR5 and a OR and I do get some use out of ATRAC and the rear locker on the OR.

Yeah, you’ll be more than fine. You got 4WD?

As long as it is in 4hi, the SR/SR5 would be solid in the snow! A/T tires with the 3 peak snow designation would make it even better!

Yeah, get some good tires, pull off that air dam, and you’re good to go.

If I could’ve got an SR5 with MT, i would’ve. I’ve replaced the whole suspension on my truck, 4WD system is identical.

I have yet to be disappointed with my SR5. I can always add a locker if I ever feel I need one.

Internal to Toyota there are only three grades: base, SR5, and limited. The rest of us are SR5 that spent a few extra minutes at the factory picking out heels and a dress followed by hours at port for hair and makeup. Varying degrees of success, talking about you Pro and Sport, sluts.

Correct but I didn’t want to get technical and confuse OP. Used to be a fancy SR5 badge next to the V6 on the tailgate of even TRD optioned prior gen trucks.

I cannot recommend these tires enough. They do mud, snow, rocks, dirt and water crossings with ease. The ride is very comfortable and they air down nicely. The side lugs grab and the tread lasts a long time. Your SR5 will take you where you want to go. Lockers will be helpful long before a light bar will be.

do you use the rear locker on most trails or is it mostly only momentarily when things get really rough as far as terrain?
