    I haven't seen the show, don't have Prime any longer.
    I was first introduced to Tolkien in 7th grade (1979/80) when I was assigned to read The Hobbit in English class. Been a huge fan ever since. I also consider myself a Tolkien "purist". I love the LoTR movies and The Hobbit movies Jackson made. He did a very good job. He deviated a fair bit from Tolkien's work, though I can certainly appreciate why. Two of my biggest pet peeves with LoTR are:

    * Tom Bombadil was completely ignored, that whole, albeit minor, story arc was totally left out.
    * Arwen. I think Liv Tyler did an amazing job with the character, but in Tolkien's work, Arwenn never actually makes an appearance. She is only ever referred to in the third person, and even then, only a bare minimal number of times. And it was Glorfindel that rescued Frodo from the Black Riders at the river just outside Rivendell, not Awren.

    There are many other, very minor differences as well. But yeah, I don't plan to watch the Amazon series.

    I didn't mind seeing Arwyn in the movies, and adding Glorfindel for (basically) one scene wouldn't have made sense.

    Also, Peter Jackson should have pushed back on Warner Bros/MGM against making The Hobbit into 3 movies. The Hobbit could have very easily been 2 movies and we wouldn't have had to see Thranduil or that awful Elf-Elf-Dwarf love triangle!
