Some weird comments in here today.

Clearly this guy lives somewhere up north. Parts looking like that is normal after 1 winter, sad to say.

Those shocks are top of the line bilstein 8112's and fully rebuildable. $4500 MSRP on them.

TC UCA's are also rebuildable. My rubber bushings have squeaked when the weather is warm since new. Uniball is quiet since new even thru the winters. Looks like the dealership is trying to get rid of the squeak without knowing what to do.

    Tires need to be changed.

Bones of the truck look good, but will need some maintenance/upkeep to get back to 100%.

Those total chaos arms have zirk's, if you grease those and spray some dry grease on all the other components at least every oil change you'll never have a squeak. I always wipe of the excess grease though ..some one looks like they no idea what they were doing?.

A key reason it's a desperate market is that folks choose to play the game, classifying themselves as desperate or claiming the YOLO card.

Paying $27k for a 171k 6 yo truck that is neither rare or pristine would be nuts.

I agree with you, the reason I walked away 10 minutes after seeing the car. Also thanks to everyone who is more knowledgeable than me help on here, they confirmed my suspicions. It's not so much the YOLO card for me as much as it is that my 4runner's rust has gotten so bad, it's unsafe. Maybe I did use the YOLO card for buying that car though.

Agree on the Total Chaos part. Mine have squeaked since new, drives me nuts. I even replaced the bushings a year after buying them, just to make sure. Still squeak and it's not the uniball, it's the bushings.

I've done extensive reading on TC uca's. Some get lucky and they don't squeak. Some people, like myself, no matter what they are squeaking. I've tried everything and then some.

I've had mine for about 5 years now original bushings and all, and about every 4 to 6 months they start squeaking like an old gate, I mean loud as shit! and every time i'm like bet it's time to rebuild these things but im a try to grease them again one more time. And I do as I said, hit the zirk's with a few pumps and every thing else with a spray of dry grease and not a sound, like brand new suspension. I think it's a matter of people not doing their research and not reading their instruction manuals on how to maintain their parts and vehicles ..and letting things go beyond maintenance expectations .

Last time I thought my UCA's were squeaking and serviced them, the squeak persisted and it was driving me nuts a buddy told me to spray oil in the sway bar mounts and thats exactly what it was ... always a new squeak though right bois...?o_O

My 1st get was the same way, thought it was the UCAs forever. Replaced my front sway bar bushings when I did the power steering rack bushings. Poof squeak gone, shortly after the rear leaf pack started squeaking - Just like a mountain bike, always another noise once the loudest one is taken care of.

They’re a great upgrade, but he was pointing out the nice frame and disgusting shocks. Why wouldn’t they detail the shocks?

This is the land of knee-jerk reactions and inexperienced confidence. Take your logic elsewhere!

I think you nailed it with the grease all over; nothing looks like it is leaking or can be confirmed to be damaged. I'd want to have some time to go over a vehicle of that age/modification level.

The 171k would still give me pause if buying as a DD.

Surprisingly, my 2017 has gone up in value significantly since bought in December 2016 and is still worth several thousand more than I paid new. First vehicle I've ever owned that has done that.

I saw one of the newer twin turbo raptors with 160k at a shady dealer for 35k, if you are gonna be stupid might as well go crazy. They had a porsche with a bunch of miles on it and a shitty paint job for sale as well, you could have all your bases covered.

Fantastic! Can’t beat that! We built a small shop over the summer and it was dollars cheaper per board to use full dimension oak 2X6s vs pine or fur from Home Depot. Weird market.
