I noticed when my partner just bought her 4runner trd pro a few months ago that when you shift in to drive and start moving within the first 5ft or so it makes a noise. The same noise happens on my new to me trd pro Tacoma. Since they both make it I assume it is normal but would just like to know what it is. Maybe its a cable retracting or something. This is my 3rd Tacoma I just got it on Sunday and loving it so far. Thanks for the help guys/girls

    Oh look, another mod....
Without a video of the noise we can't do much to help you.

If it's a hissing sound (best way I can describe it), it's the fox shocks. I noticed it when I went from my 2017 OR to 2020 Pro. If that's the case, it's normal.

Ya I guess so I just thought everyone's truck would make it. Both rigs do it every time. If you could next time you go for a drive turn the radio down before you shift to drive and they both make it within the first few ft.. Maybe a spring sound is the best to describe it.

Clanking noise? Brake pads. Normal. Mildly annoying.

I *think* I know what this sounds like. But have no clue what it is. My best impersonation of the sound is like when you pull a sewer snake out of the reel and the ribs rub on the side of the box. Only higher pitched and last a second or so. Is that the noise?????? If not I got a whole new set of questions

Does it happen when you shift into drive or when you start moving? My Corolla HB had the electric e-brake and every time you shifted from park to drive/reverse it would release the brake and make a weird electric squeaking sound.

https://www.tundras.com/threads/noise-right-after-i-take-off.104838/ another thread I found on it..

"You may hear a click or motor sound in the engine compartment for a few seconds when the engine is started or just after the vehicle begins to move. This means that the anti-lock system is in the self-check mode, and does not indicate a malfunction.
