I can only imagine. Definitely an album I can never get tired of.

 

There was a documentary about the making of that album and how Paul got “in trouble” with the label by skirting the ban on South Africa. He basically said “fuck you, if you knew these people like I do you’d showcase more of them.” They shocked the world when they had their American debut at - of all places - Saturday Night Live (Paul and Lorne are OLD friends). The band was invited to play everywhere. It’s suspected that the partnerships that formed out of that sped the demise of Apartheid.

That and Ladysmith Black Mambazzo (found out I’ve been spelling it wrong) are just friggin’ awesome.

I vaguely knew the (apartheid times) South Africa ties were there and it was controversial. But didn’t realize the significance of it.

Makes me like the album even more!

 

I saw that SNL. It was a pretty minblowing performance. Apparently it was 1986.

 

What's even better was Robin Williams was hosting that night and he KILLED. I was crying from laughing. Then we got that musical act?

Being English in heritage, this is a humbling moment.
