Hey guys....noticed my new tacoma with 400 miles on her, when i accelerate sometimes i hear what sounds like a whistle sound from the engine? Never heard that before in my old 19 model. Something new? Or something wrong? I read its from the ac unit when running? will run today with ac off and see if it still whistles? Any one else?

My 2020 will have a slight whistle only when the ac is on, or if you remove the front air dam.

Any difference with windows down? There is something that creates a whistle from wind on the exterior of the truck. Can come from truck moving or even a really strong wind while the truck is in the driveway. I noticed same thing on a co-workers new F250. Maybe the side mirrors?

^^ This. It's the infamous AC whistle. I have it but it's not annoying enough to have them do the teardown involved for the fix. I have had no dash rattles since I bought the truck last May and I want to keep it that way :)

Oh yes....cold as a refrigerator even in our Florida heat. It's been on auto since I bought the truck and never an issue.

Yeah I only ask because my 2019 never did that and I've heard some other people mention it online I was wondering what the hell it is and by coincidence I found the tsb.....

Do you have the Stereo on? The stereo in the 2022 is only as loud as a soft whistle and I hate it. lol

Just got my 2022 and I hear nothing. The cabin even has better noise control than my 2017 did.

All I can say is look around and see if you see anything odd. Does it only do it at a certain speed? It might be something just catching the wind.

If anything take it to the dealer and ask them to figure out why.

thats one of the issues I have as well as poor AC performance but Toyota has been in denial from day 1 and now with the TSB I have to leave it with them so their mechanics can drive it around to ensure the issue is really there. Good Luck!
Edit: I am at ~37k miles now

Truck was doing it for 20k miles before the SC. The SC makes more of a crunchy metallic exhaust rattle noise (my nose drive is bad). ;)

Mine does it. I wasn't going to have it repaired for fear of dash rattles, but now my AC started leaking into the cab so may have it done anyway...

Sounds more like your truck came with a sc.

Ok... This is kind of crazy but I found out by accident.... If you take your AC off (Max AC) by 1 or 2 clicks.... It stops whistling! At least on mine it did!
