I am putting my starter back on my 04 with the 2.4 engine. I got it in there and bolted up. Its been a year and a half, and my memory is a little foggy. The top wire, the one with the black plug operates the solenoid. It plugs in, and the squared off looking lug goes to starter terminal. But what about the 3rd wire? The one on the bottom. A round lug. Is it ground? There doesn't seem to be enough length there to go far. It doesn't seem to reach the bolts that bolt the starter to the transmission. I should have taken a picture, or drew a diagram or something. Does anyone know for certain where it goes?
    Thanks

If your Meter does not have the audible tone for checking resistance it should read 0 on the needle.

Ring it out with your meter one lead on the lug the other to a good ground to make sure it does go to ground.

OK. Cool! I see it is right behind, and next to the starter. Anywhere on the block should work, but I am a stickler for putting things back the way Mr. Toyota planted them. That pic is just what I need.
Bivouac I will ohm it out as I should have done in the first place. I dismissed that it could have been a 12v tap, but the thought did occur. Best to check it with a VOM. (I knew that)

    Thanks guys!

You always need to know Mr Toyota and all other manufactures it is all about ease of access building the truck on the line

Why things seem to be in really dumb locations in the assembled vehicle.

Mechanics have complained about this for many many years.

Yea. I get it. Like how much more would it cost to make the transmission rear support have a removable piece for easier alignment? Or how about a removable rubber boot on the bell housing, so you could get a inside view of the clutch, bearings, etc. to help with the installation? But I guess the extra couple of yen it would cost might eat into their profit. What makes Toyota different, they are built so well they don't tear up as much. They want you to carry it to the dealer when it does. We are seen as renegades. I don't know of any cars made to be owner maintained. Bentley, Corvette, maybe a Checker cab, maybe.

Yeah I might even mod mine way down the line.....
if I could get the right piece of steel.....might make that crossmember support removeable.....
and then laugh at you guys that do it the ol' sorry way......the transmission twist......

Switching that engine bay over to all new silicone hoses has making working on it super fast, super easy......kinda fun.....much funner than what it used to......
