I get it, but I still ate the price for the factory paint job. I either destroy it with trees and bushes or with linex

No I mean ate as in i already paid for a factory paint job. I now have a choice of destroying it with trees and bushes or with linex. Trees and bushes are cheaper.

I plan to keep my truck a long time too. What I am trying to say that a factory clear coat paint job plus a aftermarket linex coating is more expensive than a factory linex coating (if it existed). From a financial and engineering viewpoint, it makes little sense to paint a truck and then apply linex to it. You should just skip the paint and put linex on. Am I making sense?

Well, if you plan to keep it for long time and not plan to trade it in with dealership, then you can skip factory paint and use line x instead. And if you don't need a truck anymore, sell it to private buyer in order to get top dollar.

Or you can wrap it if you want. Your decision since I have no idea what your budget is that you plan to spend on. I think Line X is bit more expensive than full body wrap depending region.

I got a quote of $300 to wrap my roof but I haven't had a chance to get it done. Since I have a topper, I will consider to add about $500 to the total to wrap both cab roof and topper roof... because I don't want to have scratches from straps on there.

$560 and a miserable Friday afternoon. If you don't have a lift/air tools and some basic mechanical skills I would suggest having it done at a shop. Should be around $1000 total. I changed my diff fluid 500 miles after install. Use the recommended lube. Have you seen the video of the guy in the Expedition? He does a great job of explaining how it works.

I’m not seriously considering anything. Everything I’m talking about is hypothetical. I’m trying to convey that if it were an option to buy a new Tacoma with a body coating that was engineered to prefer durability over prettiness, I would buy it. I’m a function over form sort of person.

No problem. And that would be nice Toyota to make Tacoma with Line X paint for off road use to prevent from pinstripping the sides.

TBQH, I might be happy with flat gray paint of a standard color I could buy cheaply at the hardware store for touch ups. I’m just throwing out more hypothetical ideas.

I have an SR5 with Falken wildpeak
I also have Falken wildpeak at3w tires. Absolutely love them

I'm not an offroad guy but that reasoning is essentially why I settled on an SR5 instead of overpaying for stuff on a TRD that I didn't want or would never use. Ex) rear locker, leather seats, sun roof, remote start, bed converter.

The very reason I love the Duratracs is because they perform closer to a mud tire than those you mentioned. The thread pattern say's it all. I'm not interested in a street tire, nor a true mud tire.

What rating/size do you have on that tire? I had them on my FJ and yes they performed and lasted, but they were pretty damn loud.

My Falkens are 275/70/17 E rated. They don't seem very loud to me. But I'm also a metal head with selective hearing lol

My bad… you commented on the Duratracs, and that’s what I thought you were wearing.

I am glad you like them. No sarcasm.
We had cupping issues as well as noise, and i have read i am not the only one. caused vibrations inside. sounded like the steering column housing was going to fall off at certain speeds.
when we had them rotated, they wanted to take them off the rims and flip them around for better wear.
    Everyone has their needs.
