Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along

This happens only after refueling never after shutting the engine off for 10 minutes to make a phone call etc?

Starts fine when the engine is cold every time .Once running it smooths out and drivers fine Yes??

Mechanic could not find a problem doing cold starts?

Has it ever failed to start leaving you sit or be towed??

Leaky injectors fouling plugs plus the fuel pressure bleeds off a few cranks to build pressure and burn off plugs most time never trips a code

Jen and the leaky injector saga !

Check if fuel pressure bleeds off.

Then follow up with a camera in the fuel rail to verify.

Unless you just roll the dice and hope.

Lots of knock off injectors so beware

Anymore McGeorge Toyota seems to be the go to for online parts.

If you don`t like your local dealer.

Oh ya I’ve seen their site before. Always thought prices were too good to be true for OEM.

    i will check them out

Thank you. This problem is stressing me out:( since mechanics charged me twice and came up with no problem that could be repeated:(

I highly suggest Motorwest for injectors- a set of 4 denso injectors for the 2.7L will only set you back $180 at the moment.

I'd also suggest you keep diagnosing the issue before turning to the 'ol parts cannon. Run some injector cleaner (or sea foam) through the gas and see if you get any improvement.

    Thank you.

Just poured 8oz Seafoam last night. Had same problem after work about 30 min ago. Did not want to start right away kept cranking then finally came alive.

maybe it’s too early for seafoam to do it’s magic?

Did you do the entire can in the gas tank? I wouldn't draw any conclusions until you've run the whole tank.

Had half a tank left so only poured about half of the seafoam bottle.

About little less than half tank left, I’ll take your advice and wait it out.

    Thank you

I don't think it's going to be the cure, but if it does get better, then it points to something in the fuel delivery system being dirty or clogged, which at this point, would likely be injectors.

Ok looks like I’ll wait it out until tank is almost empty.

Is there a chance the seafoam can clean the injectors and the problem will go away?

If not I’ll start by dumping some more cash:( into fuel injectors and hopefully don’t end up on the streets by the time I pay to fix this thing lol

Motorwest is a very reputable company, and MANY members run the Denso injectors they sell. You can't go wrong with them.

LCE engineering also sells more affordable injectors for the 2.7L, and is another company you can trust.

    Ok thank you.

If it’s not fuel injectors what else can be the problem?

Not to muddy the waters, but does the 2002 2.7 have an IAC (Idle Air Control valve)?
I had a 2002 Highlander 4 cyl back in the day that had almost identical symptoms and the IAC was crudded up and sticking.
Took the valve apart and cleaned it and no more problems for another 30k miles.
