Do you have AAA? They have offices with DMV services. They are 100X better than the DMV. The AAA membership is worth every penny.

AAA isn’t a replacement for the DMV. There are some things they cannot do. Check with AAA before you go.

DMV has an 800 number. They also have online registration. About the only fucked up part is making you pay a “convenience” fee.

I had 3A membership and insurance for decades till they went to shit in many aspects. Using their DMV services was a bonus but with most typical transactions at DMV taking place online, I don't miss it.

For some reason, my renewal was not doable online, which was pretty odd. It was listed as "By Mail Only". I did call the 800 number after about a month because I included 2 renewal transactions in the same envelope. The other was a $10 PTI Plate renewal. That check was cashed right away while the big $618 wasn't. I was told they were taking upwards of 6 weeks to process registrations. Ya know....because Chynah!

Anyway, it's working its way through the system. I'll be pissed if I get lit up for not having my sticker onboard so hopefully they get it out real soon.

I've been doing the online thing and haven't noticed anything taking longer. But, I did get one of those PTI things they said was not renewable online--wtf?

I've had much better luck but maybe 'cause I did renewal on the website and paid via debit card? It usually has taken just a few days for me. I know that you didn't have that option...but 2 months is crazy!

I have a whole lotta dealings with DMV considering 3 boats, 5 trailers, 1 sport/tour moto, & 3 cars/trucks! I haven't been forced to do something by mail in forever. That's why this transaction was rather surprising. When I signed up for vanity plates for both new vehicles, they were claiming 6-8 months delivery time on the finished product! I went along with it figuring we'll just forget and later be surprised by their arrival. I got shot down on one of them via letter by mail and the one for my truck arrived in about 4 months. o_O
