@evenslower I read your post again, and agree - the route, the huts, the scenery - all great. But the best part, the people you are with for that entire time. The few epic rides I’ve done, I’ve loved everything about what I mention. But what makes the ride and trip, the people pedaling up the mountain with you.

Man I gotta get a trip in before it gets to cold!

Very cool! I'd really love a pretty modest/simple conversion to start with and mod over the years to suit needs. Looks perfect! Conversions with more than two seat belts seem hard to come by so that's great. Would love more interior pics. Where did you find it and any recs for best resources to find one?

Kind of goofy looking but they nailed the sweet spot for suspension and geo for an all around trail bike imo.

My van was built by Axis Vehicle Outfitters; their site is probably the best place to see interior pics. I'm pretty sure they still have some new builds for 2022 available and they are super good people to work with! I looked all over to find a van that would fit a family of four and wasn't completely outrageous in terms of build-out. We rented a storyteller overland van and it worked for us, but they're $160k and included lots of stuff we didn't want like a microwave and shower.

We got ours used with 57,000 miles for just under $100k. It's still spendy but that was about as cheap as I could find a pre-built van. It has everything we need and if I want to add some more battery capacity or a bigger water tank or whatever then it'd be pretty easy to upgrade later.

Agreed. It’s got an odd duck look going on to it, but it’s growing on me.

I’m very seriously considering this one. I really like my current bike, like a lot. But the adjustability of this Fuel is very intriguing. And based on the few reviews I’ve watched, Trek kinda answered the only dislikes I had with the suspension platform. The sole LBS I have without driving a good distance is a Trek store and I have a really good relationship with those guys.

Who knows, might have a Project One bike on order before too long…

    Quoting myself.

No Project One Fuel EX for a while. Per my source, Trek has 35k+ bikes in the P1 que to be built. Looks like I’ll be settling for a stock color.

    In the midwest? Interesting strategy

I used to have one of those though. Great looking bikes

That is insane! Trek has been doing pretty good with their colors recently, in my opinion. I'm actually a big fan of that new yellow color even though normally I hate yellow haha

They have had some pretty good ones lately. I’ve got a refundable deposit down on a stock one for now. It’s not due until January so we’ll see if the P1 pipeline clears up, or if I decide to bail

So getting a new Fuel EX?

You did say in an earlier post those were one of your favorite bikes you've had.

Yea I’ve put my name on one the LBS has coming in January.

And yes, this will be my 3rd FEX. They have always been really good middle ground bikes. Not too far on either extreme end of the spectrums, just bikes that do it all well. This one having some serious flexibility makes it all the more desiresable for a one bike stable.
The older platform would blow through its top end too quickly and would sit mid stroke too much for my liking. They’ve tweaked that out.

That's the best place to buy em. Not a lot of demand so the prices aren't outrageous. If you're curious where I'm riding this thing check out Windrock, Snowshoe, Horns Hill, Marquette, Shepherd Mountain, Copper Harbor, and Beech ;)
