People think "I work in finance" means "I have money insight".

It does not. "Our family owns the copyright to the color blue and has not had to work for several generations" means "We have a person with money insight, but you can't afford his rates."

I appreciate everyone that assumes I’m a poor idiot. I can’t wait until new guy gets back to tell me his mother also makes more than me

If you ARE a poor idiot (like me) it makes all the assumptions that much more clever.

Thanks man. None of the questions where really hard. Most related to practical questions about building code and enforcement. I made sure to use team or Building Dept. in most all that would require consult with another member of the dept. I got a few laughs out of them and it was a very quick 45 minutes. The feedback I received was all positive. Follow up questions where asked and the lead inspector actually commented three times "That was a damn good answer".

The best part is an inspector who I've known a long time and has always appreciated the quality of my work was on the panel. I wouldn't call it an ace in the hole but it's a jack for sure.

I'm thinking of writing the head of the dept. a very brief follow up email to thank him for the interview and consideration for the position. Is that a good or bad idea?
